Working Sheep

At the end of the kiddos spring break stay, Doug, Julianne and I headed north to help work on sheep (and bring the kiddos home).  

Dallas and Reba were very excited to meet their baby lambs

Needless to say, they are very anxious to get the lambs down here to our house, but these baby girls need to stay with their momma for a little while longer.

We helped with some spring shearing

and with some "cutting out" in preparation of fitting this summer

Isn't it funny how young kids think helping with chores is so much fun?  Dallas and Reba couldn't wait to help put down new bedding

and pick up the wool as we were shearing

While we were out in the barn, Ma-maw was keeping Julianne entertained.  But after we were done, Aunt Lisa was able to capture this picture of Pa-paw and Julianne relaxing and enjoying the Elite Eight basketball games

"Spring" Break

Even though the weather hasn't been very Spring-like, the kiddos still had a week off from school.  They headed north to stay with Pa, Gram, and Aunt Josie the first part of the break, and the second half with Pa-paw, Ma-maw, and Aunt Lisa.

Aunt Josie was kind enough to send some pictures of what they did...

 They spent one afternoon at one of Gram's friend's house, and got to see some unusual pets!

Spring Break - Part II

Like I mentioned in the previous post, the kiddos split their Spring Break between the two sets of grandparents.  Here are some of the photos from their time with the Robertson's...

They went to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis one day.  Dallas was excited about the dinosaurs

And you can't go to the museum without riding the carousel!

Another night, they went to a go-kart and arcade fun center.  Dallas said the go-karts weren't as fast as the ones in the Dells...but I think they still had a good time!

When Doug and I arrived at my parents' house on Saturday to get the kiddos before going to one of our Easter dinners...this is how we found Pa-paw and Reba!  I think if we had been a few minutes later, they would have been asleep!

Fun Friday Fotos

The kiddos went up north for Spring Break this year.  Lucky for Gram, her spring break was the same week as Dallas'.  The kiddos stayed with Pa and Gram for the first part of the week, and then spent the last part with Pa-paw and Ma-maw.  Unfortunately, Dallas came down with Pink-eye on the second day of vacation, but he was good to go once we got some eye drops to him.

Chicken Coop

My other big DYI project last week (while the kiddos were on spring break) was to build a chicken pen in the barn so they would no longer be in the garage!  Luckily, there was some work already done that I was able to "build on".  I think the original owner of this house once raised goats; therefore, there are were three stalls across the back wall in one section.  I was able to remove a "gate" that separated two of the stalls and made a larger area.  Then, I lined it all with chicken wire! 

Reba is standing in front of what used to be the middle stall, and Dallas is in front of the far right stall.  I left that gate operatable so we can get in to feed, water, and one day collect eggs!

As Dallas says, "Man! The chickens sure are growing!"

I'm so glad that he is not afraid of them.  He will go right in the pen and grab one!  He'll probably continue to do so until one of them pecks him good!

Reba tries her best to catch the chickens too, but she's just not as fast as big brother.  Thankfully, he was kind enough on this day to hold one chick for Reba to pet it.
