More Fun in the Snow

We've been out of school this week because of the snow.  Dallas and Reba have been taking advantage of the time to play outside in it.  Today, Daddy was able to join, too!

Julianne took her first solo trips on the sled, and loved it!

I was able to get them to stop long enough to snap a photo of my snow bunnies

Dallas even took a few turns pulling Julianne on the sled

Ice Cube even came out to play!

I think he liked it, too.

#PrezDaySnow

We woke up this morning to a beautiful snow covering!  Today was a snow make-up day; therefore, the kiddos were not scheduled to go.

Thankfully, the temps were bearable this morning, and Daddy had a work delay.  Everyone bundled up and headed outside.

Charlie and Fred were loving the snow too!  Fred even pulled the kiddos around on their sleds.

We don't have much of a hill for the kiddos to go sledding on, so we improvise and pull them halfway down the slope in the backyard.  In the picture, Doug is letting go of Dallas, and he can then make it the rest of the way to the barn (where I'm standing and taking the picture)

Shortly after taking the picture of all three kiddos, Julianne went in for a cat nap.  I headed inside after the sledding, but looked out the back window to see Daddy pulling Dallas and Reba on their sleds.

Unfortunately, Big Red (the lawnmower) didn't like the cold and stopped running!

During this time, Daddy got a call from work that the station was closed for the day due to the snow.  The kiddos were super excited to have him stay home and play all day!

Later in the afternoon, we were back outside, and Dallas commented on the snow that was falling.  It was amazing how defined each snowflake was...

And finally, what's a snow day home from school and work without a snowball fight?

It Snowed!

We actually got a small amount of snow on the ground, so I bundled everyone up and we went outside to play!

Dallas and Reba found their sleds, and were trying to find a hill to go down, but they didn't have much luck.  Sugar just liked being able to walk around and go where ever she pleased.

They finally convinced Momma to pull them!

Julianne liked it for a little while, then she wanted to be able to walk on her own

The snow was really weird...it was more of little balls, and it was not good for trying to build a snowman or make a snow ball.  Maybe another time...

Snowman and Sledding

I can't believe that on Dallas' birthday (Tuesday, March 11th) the temperature was in the 70's, and the following day it snowed!  The temps stayed below normal for the rest of the week, but on Saturday, it warmed up again - just in time for the birthday party!  Little did we think we would being playing in the snow once again Sunday afternoon...

Daddy, Dallas and Reba wrapped up and headed outside to play.  I stayed inside with Julianne (until she went down for a nap, then I went out)  The snow had just the right amount of moisture to build a snowman.  Daddy rolled the ball for the bottom, while Reba worked on the middle section.

Dallas then started working on the head section

Unfortunately, the snowballs picked up a lot of dirt and leaves, so we gathered more snow and covered the dirty spots.

Reba and I found some dark rocks to use for the face, and Daddy and Dallas found the sticks for the arms and the hat.

Once we finished the snowman, the kiddos wanted to get out the sleds.  Reba wanted me to pull her and Daddy to pull Dallas.  I hurt my back earlier in the week, so I didn't think it would be a good idea to pull a 30+ pound child around.  Daddy had a better idea - and got the Wheel Horse out to pull them!

Off they go!

Ice Sledding

Yesterday was actually nice enough to get outside and burn off some built up winter energy.  Enjoy the videos from their time outside! Some of the video clips are louder because I had the window open to hear the laughter.  The grunting noises are Julianne laying near me (inside the house)!

The puppies were excited to get out of the kennel too, and of course, the kiddos wanted to hook them up to their sleds.  First was Reba and Fred.

Then, it was Dallas and Fred's turn.

Reba wanted to Charlie to pull her (he doesn't like to do it as much as Fred does)

Then, Daddy discovered he could give the kids a ride without pulling them across the yard!

Next, Dallas had the idea to pull the sled with his trike.

Even, Daddy got a turn on the sled!

Winter Wonderland

We rang in the new year by going out to play!

Do you know how hard it is for a 3 year old to "pump" her legs while in a snowsuit?  Although, she didn't care, she was having a blast!

Dallas wanted to help clear the snow, but all he could find was a rake...

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, the snow was great for packing and building.  I found one of the buckets for the sandbox, and Reba helped me build a tower!

I also dug out the old sled

and pulled Dallas for a few a laps

Reba then wanted a turn, and Dallas was the very kind, helpful older brother

Then she wanted to go a little faster, so Momma took over - love the dogs running along with us in this one

I later caught Reba throwing snowballs at the barn

and then she would wipe it off the siding!
