On Friday, Doug and I loaded the truck with suitcases and kiddos and headed to Louisville, KY, for the state fair. Pa-paw and Ma-maw had taken their sheep and were showing on Saturday. We spent most of the day Friday in the sheep barn helping Aunt Lisa trim the sheep. Doug did venture out with the kiddos a couple times - I think Reba's feet got tired...
Dallas enjoyed helping. I was very proud of the way he acted in the ring.
Reba chose to stay outside the ring with Ma-maw until it came to the last group class and we needed the extra set of hands. You can't really see it in this picture, but Ma-maw is holding Reba and a lamb!
After the show, it was nap time!
One last picture before calling it a night.
Thanks to GG for the majority of the pictures; I once again failed at getting the camera out.
Until next time...

Fun Friday Fotos and Flick
I don't know what it is about sleeping kiddos...but I love 'em!
Reba played dress up with my clothes one day...
Goof-balls!
Really, she wasn't in trouble
The view I love the most...(sunset from the patio)
The kiddos L.O.V.E. watermelon!

Thursday Tails - The Butter Cow
Like I mentioned in an earlier post, this year was the 100th Anniversary of the Butter Cow at the Iowa State Fair. We made a quick trip to see the sculpture before the kiddos crashed for naps.
The "companion" sculpture was a replica of the first butter cow.
The "milk-maid" was a tribute to Norma "Duffy" Lyon's spirit. Duffy sculpted the Iowa State Fair Butter Cow from 1960 to 2005. She passed away this past June. Duffy was only the fourth person and first woman to sculpt the Butter Cow.
The 2011 Butter Cow
In addition to the Butter Cow, there were more than 60 painted, concrete cows across the fairgrounds. Here are a few of our favorites

Return to Preschool
Dallas returned to preschool yesterday after taking a week off for our vacation to Iowa. He had a very difficult time when I dropped him off and left. Let's be honest...he started crying as soon as we walked out the door to get in the car to drive to preschool; he sobbed the entire car ride; and then kicked and screamed when the teacher pried him off my leg. I felt like the worst mom in the world, but I knew he would be fine after a few minutes; and he was.
But, when I picked him up, the first thing the teacher said was that he had a slight accident. She also said he had been really "brave" and didn't cry.
Apparently, the little man's feet got going faster than needed and he tripped on the sidewalk on the way down to the playground (it's a pretty good decline). His Lightening McQueen sunglasses took the brunt of the fall - which protected his handsome face somewhat.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday
As most of you know, last week, the kiddos and I traveled to Iowa with Ma-maw, Pa-paw, Aunt Lisa and GG for the state fair. Here are a "few" of the pictures from our trip!
Dallas decided Aunt Lisa's boots were a perfect fit
Don't see these in southern Indiana!
Welcome to Iowa!
Playing a little peek-a-boo to pass the time
Getting ready to see some of the fair
Dallas fell asleep right as the sheep show started
The entire Triple R Dorset flock
We ate breakfast at the Machine Shed one morning, this pig was outside
Then, at the fair, Dallas got a chance to "show" a pig
As did Reba
A couple cool cats, Aunt Katie and Reba
Too much fun
After naps and lunch, the kiddos each had a turn going down the giant slide
Dallas went first
Reba went next
Lots of time was spent climbing on the tractors and equipment
Look what we found at the FFA exhibit - a purple Oliver!
Momma and Dallas on the sky glider
Aunt Katie, Reba and Aunt Lisa on the sky glider
Ma-maw, Reba, Dallas and Pa-paw at supper
On the trip back to Indiana, Dallas had to check on the sheep at every stop!
