Hanging Out

We spent a few extra days with Pa-paw and Ma-maw since I was meeting with my high school girlfriends on Monday for lunch.  We try to get together each year around Christmas to visit and eat at our favorite place, The Cow Palace!  I had been unable to make it the last couple times due to various reasons, but luckily it worked out this year!  Of course, I have no pictures from our lunch gathering...but I do have some more pictures of hanging out at Pa-paw and Ma-maw's house!

The kiddos got this cool bowling game, so we HAD to open it and give it a try.
It's got an electronic scoreboard and allows 2 players to bowl 6 frames.  It also has a ball return!  Needless to say, they love it!

Daddy helped Pa-paw and Aunt Lisa outside by trimming some of the dead tree limbs in the front yard.
Dallas helped by pulling all the cut limbs back to the burn pile!

Oh, Christmas Tree

Today we were finally able to put up our Christmas tree.  Dallas and Reba loved helping hang the ornaments and placing the train under the tree.  Julianne was amazed with the tree when she woke up from her nap.  Doug then caught the kiddos and I sitting and admiring our work.

I love sitting in the dark admiring the twinkling tree.

Timber!

We started our Labor Day weekend with a bit of work...helping Pa and Gram cut down a couple trees.  The first one up was Gram's Rose of Sharon bush.  Unfortunately, the last couple of dry summers had taken their toll on the bush.
With a swipe of the chainsaw, it was gone.
Thankfully, we had someone willing to drive the lawnmower and pull all the limbs back to the brush pile!
The next tree was one of Gram's Brandford Pear trees.  A section of it got taken out in a storm this spring/summer.  They thought it best to take the rest of it down before another storm did more damage.

Almost done
Thankfully, it all came down as planned!
Little Miss was left with a perfect place to sit and watch everyone else work

Robertson Christmas

Yesterday, we packed up the van early in the morning and started our trip to Aunt Katie's house!  Thankfully, the kiddos all did great on the trip - good thinking on the DVD players, Santa!

GG's first time meeting Julianne
This morning, Daddy was playing airplane with the older kiddos.  After breakfast while everyone was finishing getting ready, they wanted to fly again, so Pa-paw volunteered to take them up.

Finally, it was time to start opening presents, but first...yep, Momma had to get a picture!
I was able to take more pictures today because Ma-maw "volunteered" to hold Julianne.  Good thing Dallas and Reba were very willing to help others open their presents!

Have you seen this commercial?
Aunt Katie introduced Doug to it at Thanksgiving, and he, of course, loved it!  Therefore, Kate and Brian thought Doug needed this shirt...

Us girls went together and got this family birthday and anniversary wall hanging for Granny.  Each round "charm" contains a family members name and date of birth and hangs from the respective month.  The heart-shaped "charms" have anniversary dates.

Meanwhile, Pa-paw and Reba worked on a puzzle together!

Just Peachy!

Remember this Spring when I mentioned our two young peach trees were full of blooms that did turn into small peaches?  We weren't sure if those little guys would develop into anything worthy, but a few of them did!  Quite a few of the peaches fell off the tree, before fully ripening, during the heavy rain showers and windy days.  In the end, we were able to eat a handful of them fresh, and I was able to use about a dozen of them (plus a few additional ones from a friend) to make a peach pie!

I lost track of how many times the kiddos and Doug thanked me for the pie...I think it might have been a big success!

Fun Friday Fotos

After we ended our kite flying, Daddy went back to mowing the yard, and the kiddos played in the tall grass behind the barn.

They laughed and laughed and laughed!
A quick picture after church on Mother's Day
Last year, we planted 2 peach trees and an apple tree.  Last month (mid-April), the peach trees were full of blooms!
Then, one day last week, I noticed all the little peaches!  It will be interesting to see how well they ripen.

Random Holiday Fotos

The only foto I captured from the extended Robertson Christmas...Little Miss and Aunt Lisa
While the adults were playing cards at the Rosenfeld Christmas, Dallas loaded up his semi with some goodies
Sleeping Beauty was tuckered out!
While returning some gifts, Reba spotted this pink tree and begged to have her foto taken with it
We stopped at Buffalo Wild Wings on our way back to Pa-paw and Ma-maw's after seeing the Lights Under Louisville...the kiddos thought it was funny wearing the "boats" as hats

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas

Dallas was very excited to come home from Aunt Katie's and get the Christmas tree up!  After a full day of work around the house Monday after returning from Iowa, we started on the Christmas tree that night.  Thankfully, I had a couple strands of lights that worked!

Reba got to hang the first ornament, an angel from her godparents.

Dallas then hung his dog "ornament" that he got from Reba's godparents as well.

The finished tree!
We were also able to get the kiddos' personal trees up in their room.  Ma-maw gets them a special ornament each year, so Dallas has 4 ornaments and he thought he needed to add a few more items to "fill up" his tree.
Reba's tree
Last year, one of Doug's aunts passed down a tree to us; I think it looks wonderful in the basement!
We also put up outside decorations (a week after putting up the inside trees).  Last year, my "Charlie Brown" tree lost 98% of its lights, so this year I had the brilliant idea to take those lights off and put new lights on.  Sound easy enough?  It was a pain! but it at least it looks great now...
Finally, my "Black Friday" find...a Nativity Set
