Brookville Tractor Show

A few weekends ago, the kiddos headed north to attend the Brookville Tractor Show and Hope Heritage Days Parade with Pa, Gram and Aunt Josie.

Dallas' favorite part of the Brookville Show is the Pedal Races.  You might remember him participating last year.  Unfortunately, he didn't win this year, but still had fun!

Fun Friday Fotos - Dirt Track Races

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Doug and I took the kiddos to the dirt track in Haubstadt for a little bit of fun!  You might remember us going last summer.  Anywho...I didn't take my camera for fear of dropping it through the bleachers, so the photos came from my phone...

Needless to say, everyone had a great time, and Dallas drank 3 pops (a Mt. Dew, a Cherry Coke, and a Ski) while we were there!  He was wired the entire time.

Pedal Tractor Drag Races

Over the weekend, Dallas and Reba went with Pa, Gram and Aunt Josie to the Brookville Tractor Show.  On Saturday, they had kiddie tractor races.  Thankfully, Aunt Josie captured the excitement on video for Daddy and Momma (and all of you) to see!

 

It was a single-elimination style competition.  Dallas ended up racing 3 times...

Over the weekend, Doug and I took the kiddos to the races in Haubstadt.  We had a great time, and we even got to see a few good flips rides.  Enjoy the photos...

There was a gentleman sitting near us that gave the kiddos these safety glasses to help keep the dirt out of their eyes.  They loved 'em!

During a red flag, this car stopped right in front of our seats - it also happened to be the one Dallas picked as his favorite for the feature!

Let's Go Racin'

This past weekend, we were able to get away and spend some time with Katie! Doug and I enjoy going to see the dirt track races in Algona, IA (near where Katie lives). We weren't able to make it up last summer, but we made it this year and had a great time. Thanks again for having us Katie!

I, of course, forgot my camera! Luckily, Katie came to the rescue.

One of the first things we saw when we got to our seats was this car that had hit the tire barrier. The tire became stuck under the front end of his car!
Dallas just sat on the bleacher (well for the first couple heats) and watched the cars go round and round! He looked more like a toddler than the baby I still refer to him as!

Then, he had to change seats and watch with Daddy.

When the feature races begin, the crowd stands and waves at their favorite drivers...Dallas joined in as well!

The last wreck of the evening...

Dallas stayed awake until 11:30 that evening! He only took an hour and a half nap on the way to Katie's house Saturday afternoon. He did sleep another 45 minutes on our way to the races.

Sunday morning, we went out for breakfast and then Katie showed us where a bald eagle has made a nest just south of her house!

After bird watching for a while, we made our way back to Katie's house. I think Dallas was ready to mow her lawn. Too bad she did that chore Saturday morning!

Ladies and Gentlemen...

Start your engines!!!

As an anniversary gift to Doug, which was June 4th, I bought tickets to the Indy Car Series - Iowa Corn 250 race. The race was yesterday, so the tickets also functioned as a Father's Day gift! In addition to the race tickets, I also purchased tickets for the Fan Walk.

With the Fan Walk, we took a shuttle down into the infield before the race, and we were able to walk right behind the pits. Right when we got off the shuttle, we were able to catch a glimpse of Danica Patrick on a golf cart. Then, we saw Scott Dixon and his wife get off their moped. I was able to get their picture...

The best part of race day...the various hairstyles that you see! This was one of my favs from the day...

After the race, country singer Shannon Brown (of Spirit Lake, Iowa) put on a concert. We heard her sing a couple of songs before taking a break for the Victory Lane festivities. Doug and I whimped out and left because of the heat. Plus, it was going to be another 45 minutes before she was to come back on stage.

All in all, we had a wonderful time! Aunt Katie came down to the spend the afternoon with Dallas, and they had a great time together as well.
