Julianne's Baptism

Yesterday was a very special day for our sweet Julianne.
It was her baptism!
Unfortunately, she was rather tired when it was time to pour the Holy Water over her head, so she went ahead and shouted a few words of joy and a couple Hallelujah's for all to hear.

Our friends, Matt and Carla, accepted the role of Julianne's Godparents.
We also took a few more family photos...
Doug and I were thankful that our families could join in the celebration.
Mattison and Reba couldn't pass on the opportunity to get their picture taken
Julianne and her cake - I even let her have a small lick of the icing (which she loved) and ice cream (which she spit out).

Opening cards and presents
Matt and Carla gave Julianne a cross to hang in her room

Carla also found this prayer sheep for Julianne.  When you press its foot, it will recite The Lord's Prayer, Hail Mary, and the Glory Be

Julianne received a cross pendant from Ma-maw, Pa-paw, Aunt Lisa, Aunt Katie and Brian
Gram and Pa gave Julianne a pretty pink cross and a little decorative mug
Aunt Josie found a tiny bracelet that says Child of God, but Julianne was getting hungry once again and wasn't too thrilled about wearing it.
Thank you to everyone for making our little girl's day extra special.

Until next time...

Photo Round-Up

This was the only picture I took of Miss Reba at her baptism party...as you can tell, she enjoyed a nice nap during the party! Dallas enjoyed the pie and ice cream that was the dessert for the party.

Reba hanging with Pa-paw and Ma-maw before they had to head back to Indiana
Dallas having fun on his pedal tractor
This is Dallas' new past time activity (notice the hat backwards...that's new from the weekend too)
Dallas loves to help feed Reba. (As you can tell, Reba doesn't mind who feeds her as long as she gets the food!)
Reba found some new "toys"...she loved the clinging sounds they made
And, lastly, Reba has started on carrots (that I made from last year's garden crop).
She ate the whole bowl...even if she did give me this face!
Until next time...

Reba Elizabeth's Baptism

On Sunday, July 4, 2010, Reba was baptized. We were very excited to share this joyous event with both Doug's family and my family. I, being the forgetful mom, didn't take my camera; therefore, the following are from my mom's camera.

Dallas' Baptism

As I mentioned in a previous post, both the Robertsons and Bergmans came to Iowa to witness Dallas' baptism. We had Dallas baptized on July 6, 2008 during mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Josie Bergman (Doug's sister) and Chris DiTomo (a friend from church) accepted to be Dallas' Godparents. Here are some pictures of the special ocassion! (Sorry, some of them are dark because our family was sitting on the other side of the church from the font.)

Blessings

Restating our own baptismal vows. It is tradition for the Godmother to hold the one being baptized.

Blessing the Water

I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dallas didn't mind having water poured on his head...he thought it was bath time!

Maxine from church made us a cake for the special day. Not only did we have Dallas baptized, but it was also Granny and Katie's birthdays!
