It has still been crazy around here! Doug left early Tuesday morning for meetings in Chicago, but on Monday night, he helped me pick and husk about 9 or 10 dozen ears of sweet corn. Yep...you guessed it...that left me to cook and freeze it on Tuesday. It wasn't all that bad. Dallas did great while I was busy with the project. He sat in his walker/exerciser and played and watched me. I ended up getting about 17 (quart size bags) in the freezer. When Dallas fell asleep for his late afternoon nap, I mowed the yard! I tried to give Dallas some more baby food for supper, but he did not want anything to do with it. I even tried mixing the cereal with breast milk thinking it would be a familiar taste for him. Oh well...if he is anything like his father...he will catch on soon enough!
On Wednesday, I spent a good part of the morning in the garden ~ pulling some weeds and harvesting some bell peppers, jalapenos, onions, carrots, broccoli, zucchini, and tomatoes! Of course, I then had to wash it all and store it some way or another. I also took things into town to share with Laura (who is helping with the garden). I ended up staying at her house for an hour chit-chatting! I tried giving Dallas some cereal again, and still no luck. Tonight I even mashed up a banana with it! He didn't even want to open his mouth for the spoon (which he was doing great with the first couple nights). I then got to thinking...and it was Doug that was having the luck feeding him before...maybe he just likes his Daddy to feed him the big people food! Anywho...I topped my evening off with watching the Olympics...now I need to get to bed.
Until next time...

Tuesday Tales
Let's start with the weather...always something to talk about there. Yesterday, I mentioned we were to get about 3 inches of snow through the night. Well, it didn't actually start accumulating until this morning. I'm not sure how much we got, but I wouldn't call it 3 inches. It is super, super fluffy and light. Let's hope the wind doesn't pick up too much or it would blow everywhere! The roads were not a problem this morning; thank goodness. School wasn't even delayed! But...it is still cold.
In other news, I spent the afternoon at our friends (the Miner's) house. I watched their youngest son for about 45 minutes while Laura volunteered up at the school. Of course, after Laura got home, we sat and visited for almost 2 hours! It was great.
I've decided that this little Buckwheat is going to be one of the smartest babies ever...because s/he is taking ALL my brain cells! My latest brain fart has been losing the battery charger for the camera! I have absolutely no idea where it is, and the camera is completely dead right now. I feel like I have checked everywhere, but there is one place left to check...the place where the charger is! Any ideas of where to look?
Well, there's not really any more to share from my day. I'm warming up some chili (that I made over the weekend) for supper. Tomorrow night is Lamaze night...Doug is a little upset he is going to have to miss the Indiana vs. Wisconsin game; maybe we'll be able to catch the end of it if Shari lets us out early. I don't have religious education class this Thursday because the school district has a scheduled day off...I guess because it is Valentine's Day...I hope my confirmation students enjoy the night off!
Until next time...

Don't Need to Worry...
I'm still here.
I apologize for going *nearly* (as some would say) a month without posting. It seems like I just haven't had the time to sit and type since returning from Indiana.
Doug and I got back home on Wednesday, Jan. 3rd. Yes, we did rent a U-Haul to bring back all the goodies we received while being in Indiana. We spent the evening unpacking the trailer and then having to return it to the U-Haul station in Coralville. Thursday, Doug returned to work, and I returned to the chiropractor. Seven hours in a vehicle is not cool anymore! I also did some catching up here around the house...laundry, mail, groceries, etc. Friday, I returned to work with Doug, and then we headed to Katie's house after work. Mom and Dad came out Thursday so Dad could do some pheasant hunting. There was also a toy show in Ft. Dodge that we wanted to attend Saturday morning. We hadn't originally planned on spending Saturday night, but we did and came home Sunday mid-morning.
Monday morning was back to work, and then we had a baby doctor appointment in the afternoon. Everything is still going great with Buckwheat! We are so blessed. Christmas dinners were obvious in the weight department...in the 4 weeks since the last appointment, I put on another 8 pounds! I think I must have swallowed the turkey whole!!! I have been getting some swelling in my fingers, but that is all really. Buckwheat's heartbeat was strong as ever...but a bit slower. It was down to 140 beats/min. (which is still in the normal range of 110-180 beats/min.). We go back to the doctor on the 22nd of January...yes, we are to the every 2 weeks visits!
Tonight, Doug worked some more on putting away odds and ends from the holidays. We also put the baby crib together! It is absolutely beautiful...once I get the bedding washed up and put on, I'll put up some pictures.
Speaking of pictures, I have some that I need to download from the camera of the holidays. I'll try to do that soon. And, I know, you all will be wanting a new baby bump picture soon.
Until next time...

Hump Day
Can you believe that Wednesday is already gone? Where has the week gone? I don't have too much to write about. The roofer again didn't show up today...but it was super windy here. It probably would have blown the guy off the roof! I also had a chiropractic appointment today. I've been having some neck pain this last week, and it is causing me to have bad headaches by late morning and lasting all night. While meeting with the doctor today, he came to the conclusion that it has to do with the change in my sleeping positions. I usually sleep on my stomach, but with Buckwheat growing...that is a little more difficult these days! I go back on Monday, and hopefully, that will get me through the holiday weekend.
Until next time...

Random
I hope everyone had a good day. It was just another Tuesday around here. The roofer hasn't been here since Saturday. He said would try to be here tomorrow (Wed.) So...we'll wait and see. The shingles haven't arrived yet, so he will just be tearing off more of the old stuff and putting down new sheating.
It was a really nice day here. I think it hit the 60's again, but it is to drop down to the 30's tonight and the wind is to really pick up! We are expecting a high of 53 tomorrow with 25 mph winds.
I hope you were able to "see" Buckwheat in the last post. We have a CD containing about 10 or 11 different pictures, but Doug and I thought the one posted was the easiest to see him/her.
My friend Kim finally shared a new baby bump picture on her blog...so I thought I would share it with you all as well! I think her due date is around mid-January. Kim & Jason are also waiting to be surprised with the gender of their baby...my vote is for a girl!
That's all I have for now...only 9 days until Thanksgiving! Hopefully, Doug and I will get to visit with many of you then!

Monday...
So...I was informed over the weekend that I have some active readers who are a little upset when I go "days" without posts. Sorry about that - Aunt Marnie.
Nothing too exciting happening around here. Buckwheat is becoming more active; which is very exciting...and kind of a strange feeling. Doug and I are still discussing names all the time. We just haven't found the "right" one...yet. We still have lots of time to decide and then change our minds.
I went to the local Farmer's Market today to finally pick up some pumpkins. I baked my first one of the season today, and then Doug helped me make some pies to take to work tomorrow for Doug's birthday. They look so good...I just want to cut into one right now!
Well, I'm sure you all are tired of my rambling...so I will go check on my pies and "talk" with you later.
Until next time...
