Happy Father's Day!

I hope all the dads had a fabulous day!  Isn't it funny how on Mother's Day, dad takes the kids out so mom can have quiet time; but on Father's Day, the kids hang on dad?

We had our first sheep show of the summer today.  It was the start of the Rush County Fair, and the kiddos were pretty excited to show their lambs.  They were a great help getting them ready for the ring.

A girls got to look her best!
Dallas even walked his ram lamb and ewe lamb in and around the ring without using a halter!
My mom offered to take a family picture of us, and you all know how difficult it can be to get everyone to look at the camera...my phone put together the multiple shots into a video clip!  It's kind of funny watching how much everyone moves in the matter of seconds...
Here is the best one...
Here are a few more pics from our time in the ring (Thanks Ma-maw for being the photographer!)...

Reba's ewe lamb, Doc, won Champion of the Dorset breed, so she got to go back for the Supreme drive.  Little Miss was a tad bit excited.  She kept asking if she would win a trophy...
If only they gave the award based on the "best smile"
Julianne tried to help when it was time to load up and leave
Saying bye-bye to Pa-paw and Ma-maw before going to spend time at Pa and Gram's...

After the show, Doug and I headed back to Pa-paw and Ma-maw's to finish loading our things on the truck.  We were able to outrun the rain and storms until we were about an hour away from home.  Luckily, it was a thin line, and we were able to drive through it.

Walking with a Helper

Between the end of the school year, Dallas' baseball schedule, and Reba's TBall schedule, we have not been walking our lambs as much as we would like.  Tonight, we got them out, and wouldn't you know, Sugar thought she needed to help everyone.  Thankfully, Reba and Ice Cube were more than willing to let Julianne tag along.

It Snowed!

We actually got a small amount of snow on the ground, so I bundled everyone up and we went outside to play!
Dallas and Reba found their sleds, and were trying to find a hill to go down, but they didn't have much luck.  Sugar just liked being able to walk around and go where ever she pleased.

They finally convinced Momma to pull them!
Julianne liked it for a little while, then she wanted to be able to walk on her own
The snow was really weird...it was more of little balls, and it was not good for trying to build a snowman or make a snow ball.  Maybe another time...

Walking!

She can actually take about 4-5 steps, but she doesn't want to while I have the camera on her!

Walking!

The little man has been on the move lately, but I just haven't been able to capture it on camera. I finally got decent footage this evening! Sorry about the lighting issues.

Walking and Rocking

Dallas really started walking around the house yesterday. He has been taking about 2-3 steps for a good while, but yesterday he was really making some progress across the living room. Of course, when I got the camera out to capture these moments, one of two things happened. (1) the dogs jumped in the way or (2) he would quit walking and start crawling.

Dallas is also loving to climb on the furniture. Last Wednesday, he figured out how to climb on the couch and since then he climbs on everything. He loves this rocking chair which came from Gram and Grandpa Bergman. I think they said that it was actually Bob's mom's chair...been in the family for a little while.

Birthday Presents and More...

Last night, I promised birthday present pictures...so I am keeping my word.

Thursday, I was cleaning the house before our visitors arrived. I put in a DVD for Dallas, sat him in his walker, gave him some snack and a drink, and I went about my business. After a while, I realized it was quite in the front room...and this is what I found.
Dallas opened his presents on Friday afternoon after Gram, Grandpa and Aunt Josie arrived. He had to touch each one first before deciding which one to tear into.
He chose the bag first...
Inside were plates, a fork and spoon, a big boy cup, a cup with a straw, bowls and ice packs from Aunt Josie. They all had a jungle theme to them.
It's a plate!
Dallas moved on to another present before finishing everything that was in the bag...we'll get back to those in a while.
Check out all the summer outfits from Gram and Grandpa! Dallas thought it was fun to toss them out of the box and make a pile behind himself.
Opening another gift from Gram and Grandpa
Dallas has his own porch rocker to match Mommy and Daddy's! Now, if he would only sit long enough to enjoy it. As you can see...he was much more interested in the clothes again.

The jungle plates...
The big boy cup...he's trying to decide what you do with it...

On Saturday, we went to a toy show. It was at Heartland Acres in Independence, IA. Not only did they have the toy show, but they had a lot of hands-on activities for kids and a Big and Small Tails area (farm animals on display). Here's Dallas and Daddy enjoying the milk bench.
Heartland Acres is located in Buchanan County where there are many barn quilts on homesteads. This one is called 'pinwheel'.
The Longhorn on display.
The landmark glass silo.
Doug tried setting Dallas on the Hereford to get a picture, but Dallas wanted nothing to do with it.
He finally grabbed the halter, but he still wasn't too sure about it (and yes, that's a plastic steer).
After our morning at Heartland Acres, we came home to enjoy the sunshine! Gram and Grandpa brought this wagon with them...Dallas loved being pulled around the yard.
Dallas is so on the verge of walking. He loves to walk with you while you hold his hands. I think everyone got their fair share of walking in this weekend, including Aunt Josie and Gram.

Leave it to the guys to come up with a better solution that walking and pulling a wagon...

After a full day outside playing, a certain little boy needed a bath.
