Julianne - 9 months

Enjoy some of the random pictures of Julianne from the past month...

Since Julianne has stopped being swaddled while sleeping, she now loves snuggling with her swaddle blankets
Julianne is actually sitting in the seats of shopping carts more often.  Reba loves when we go to Aldi's because she can ride too!
Thankfully, at Rural King, the carts have extra large seats, and both girls and fit!
Julianne is pulling up to a standing position more and more.  I recently brought out this toy, and she LOVES it!  I love her hair (it had been in a pony the day before)
One morning, the girls and I ventured out to a park to enjoy the sunshine.  They could swing all day long!
Julianne is figuring out how to "undress" herself.  Somehow, she pulled her arm out of the sleeve and up through the neck hole! All while strapped in her carseat...
Every once in a while, Julianne will allow Dallas to still sit and hold her.
Another example of Julianne allowing someone to sit and hold her.  This time I was able to chosen!
Our little girl does not like to be held too often, she would much rather ride in her stroller, sit in the high chair, or be on the floor where she can move freely.  As far as going to sleep, she will wiggle and fight if you try to rock her; she would much rather be put in her bed and given her blanket.

Julianne figured out how to open and close the cabinets while watching Reba and I baked one day.
A few other things Julianne has accomplished this past month:

  • Picking up "puffs" to feed herself
  • Holding on with one hand while standing
  • Stayed with her godmother, Carla, for about 12 hours!
  • Says "mamama", "dadada", and occasionally "bababa"
  • Starting to cruise down the couch and around chairs
  • Eating more and more table food: mashed potatoes, yogurt, bread, pancakes, pasta, etc
  • Passes items from one hand to the other
  • Sharing baths with Reba and Dallas
  • Still squeezes into 6-9 month clothes
  • Wears size 3 diapers
  • Nurses every 4 hours
  • Sleeps from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; naps from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m.
  • Drinks water from sippy cup during meals
  • Waves back when we wave to her
  • Figured out how to grind her teeth, and (occasionally) smack her lips
  • Crawls across the floor while holding something in her hand
9 month stats:
Height: 27.5 inches*
Weight: 19 lbs 10 oz

Until next time...

*I don't agree with her height measurement since it is only a quarter inch different from her 6 month check-up

A lot of This and a Little of That Thursday

First, the weather has been beautiful!  I just love the fall, too bad in Iowa it is a very, very short season.  That's one thing I am really looking forward to about moving.  Plus, I'm very excited to see the trees change colors and enjoy that natural wonder.  OK...enough about that...pictures!

Reba has loved playing in the sandbox.  She will sit and dig and play while Dallas drags me about the yard wanting to do other things.  Plus, she has learned that the sand doesn't taste all that great, so she has stopped putting it in her mouth and I can feel comfortable walking away for a few minutes.
One thing I won't miss about Iowa...the wind.  I mean how is a girl suppose to keep her hair looking fabulous all day with this wind?
This goober just makes me laugh!
We have been having some great successes with the potty training and sleeping in the big boy bed, but as to be expected...we have our moments.  He also knows when the camera is on, taking pictures of his sister, and how to step in front and flash that grin!

The other day I posted about new things the kiddos can do, well the next day, Reba surprised me by doing this...

Yea, she just took off and up the stairs she went!  She made it about half way up before she stopped to see if anyone was following (and yes, I was!)

Reba has also started to stand (without holding on to something) for longer periods of time.  Here, she was pouring herself a nice cup of tea.
Oh, remember that packing picture...here's how I found Dallas later that day.
When did I get two monkeys for kids?

And, finally a short video.  We were playing outside today when I noticed Dallas climbing onto his pedal tractor a little different than normal.  Apparently, he has to climb on like Daddy climbs on the big Ollie.
Until next time...

Reba's Standing Progress

As I mentioned before, Reba pulled herself up to a standing position the other night. I have had the camera close waiting for her to do it again. She was close to doing it again on Friday night, but this is all the farther she made it ~
And then, tonight, she realized there were things on the end table that interested her (i.e. the remote and newspaper)!
She was just so proud of herself
I have a video, but it is not wanting to upload, and I'm ready for bed...so it will have to wait
Until next time...

Exciting News!

Reba pulled herself up to a standing position last night!

Sorry, I don't have a picture...but I have the camera within arm's reach for when she does it again.

Looks like Doug and I will be lowering her crib mattress very, very soon.

Until next time...

Picture Update

I know, I've been a little slow about keeping the blog updated. I really have no excuse, other than chasing Dallas around the house occupies most of my time. The little guy can crawl like a pro and can pull himself up on anything. The other night, he actually let go of the couch he was holding onto and stood alone for a brief second! Well, enough words, on to the pictures...

We had a recent full moon...
Dallas loves his riding tractor...he has actually figured out how to make it go forward.
Cleaning off my end table.
Dallas got his first major boo-boo. He was trying to pull himself up on the walker, and the walker walked away!
Dallas and his puppy (Charlie)
Fred didn't want to get in the picture.
Dallas feeding himself...
Aunt Katie sent a new outfit! I think it says it all..."Chubby Cheeks"
Yesterday, while at the grocery store, they had "fresh" peaches on sale (they were from Chile). They looked good and were just the right ripeness for a pie! I think it turned out very pretty...and it tasted even better!

What we've been up to...

Dallas is really moving these days. Just the other night, he made his way into the kitchen and pulled himself up on his highchair.Dad helped with bath time the other night. Apparently, Dallas' belly button is ticklish!
I spiked Dallas' hair and took a picture. Too bad his hair is very, very blonde.
Today, just before lunch, Dallas got "tired" of his jump swing!
Lastly, we have some of the best neighbors. Today, one of our neighbors came and cleaned out our drive! I took the picture through the kitchen window...I didn't want to be out in that coldness!
Until next time...

10 Months Old

Yesterday, Dallas turned 10 months old. I can't believe in a few (short) months, we will be celebrating his 1st birthday! Here are some recent pictures to commemorate this milestone...

Standing upPlaying with the cruise and crawl jungle that was a Christmas gift
On Saturday, we had the tires rotated on the truck...this is Dallas waiting with Daddy
After getting the tires rotated, we went grocery shopping. Dallas was asleep when we got to the grocery store, so I stayed in the truck with him. Once he woke up, Dallas wanted to drive!
While we were out and about, we bought Dallas a sled. Daddy helped him test it out once we got home.
Dallas loving his new sled
One last thing for Dallas' 10 month birthday... a big boy car seat!Doesn't he just look so excited? This was taken on our way home from church, and the little guy was in no mood for smiles.

Until next time...

Other Random Pictures from the Indiana Trip

I mentioned in an earlier post that Dallas attended his first high school basketball game...well, this is how he enjoyed most of the game. Asleep on Grandma's lap!Aunt Katie found a Santa hat for me!
Reading my Christmas book with Grandpa.
GG and Dallas (catching a nap before the next dinner).
The Christmas Tree in downtown Indy.
Go Colts!
One last meal before heading back to Iowa.
Finally, as I mentioned, Dallas is getting pretty good at the standing thing. This morning when I went to get him out of bed...this is what I found:

OK...this is the last one. You know they are exhausted when they can sit by each other!

Until next time...
