Strawberries and Ice Cream

What do you do when you have a flat full of fresh strawberries?  Top a bowl of ice cream with them!

Basketball, Pie and Ice Cream...Oh, my!

Dallas got a new net for the basketball goal in his Easter basket, and Daddy was able to put it up tonight.
Dallas' first shot up...got stuck!
After a few more attempts, he finally made one.

Our rhubarb is just about ready to be cut, so I figured I had better use up what is still in the freezer from last year.  That meant pie and ice cream was on the menu for dessert tonight!
Even Sugar snuck in a few bites from Big Sis' bowl...
Until next time...

Happy 7th Birthday, Dallas!

Dallas has been reminding Doug and I for the better part of the last 10 months that he would be "turning 7 soon."  Well, the day finally arrived!

Doug, the girls and I surprised Dallas at school to join him and his friends for lunch.  There was quite a debate among his classmates as to who would sit with us.  Luckily, there was enough room for all the boys in the class at our table.
We are celebrating this weekend with family, so tonight we had a skillet chocolate chip cookie and ice cream in honor of the birthday boy.
I still can't believe that 7 years ago, I became a mom for the first time.  We are so thankful that God has blessed us with such an amazing and talented son.  May the Lord continue to guide you, Dallas, into the loving, smart, and sometime mischievous person He wants you to be.

Until next time...

(Great) Grandpa's Birthday

My Grandpa Robertson turned 90 last weekend.  We all gathered at Gastof Amish Village earlier today to celebrate, and it so so wonderful how many family members turned out for his party!

Sugar loved the fried chicken.
Little Miss and Big D loved the ice cream and desserts!

They also had an awesome time playing with their cousins
As well as meeting the newest ones

Near the end of the party, we gathered everyone around the birthday boy for a few photos...

Standing L-R: Uncle Dave & Aunt Carol (my dad's sister), Teresa (Ma-maw) & Jim (Pa-paw), Aunt Marine & Uncle Joe (my dad's younger brother), Aunt Joyce, Uncle John (my dad's youngest brother) & Aunt Kelly
Seated L-R: Aunt Mary (my grandpa's sister), Grandpa Ward, and Uncle Dayton (Aunt Mary's husband)
 Grandkids & Spouses
A few of the 21 Great-Grandkids

Happy 1st Birthday Julianne!

Today our Sugar-babe turned 1 year old!  The weather wasn't completely opposite as it was a year ago, as there was no snow on the ground.  We enjoyed the our morning at a toy show in southern Kentucky, and then came home to have our friends (and Julianne's godparents) the Schenks over for supper, gift opening and cake.

Julianne's cake looked almost identical to the one I made her last weekend...and she loved it once again!
Our birthday girl - not wanting to sit still to have her picture taken!
Present time!
You might say she had a few extra helpers willing to lend a hand getting the paper off the packages...
...and willing to help test the new toys!

Matt and Carla recorded a story for her - such a neat idea!

She's ready for the cold weather - if it ever decides to show up

Julianne wasn't too happy that I was holding the cake too far away; she couldn't pet the kitty!
I had been working with her on blowing, but she wasn't able to muster up enough wind to get the candle out
It didn't take her any time at all to dive into the cake this time!

I thought I would be nice and share some ice cream, but Sugar made such a face when she took a bite.  I thought she didn't like it, but she turned back for more and made the face again and again!
Until next time...

Labor Day

We ended our long weekend with a little more fun with our families before making the trip home.  On Sunday, we helped Pa-paw and Aunt Lisa shear off the older ewes in preparation of fall lambing.  Even Dallas and Reba took a turn with the electric clippers!
We of course had to play with tractors - big and small before leaving!

Julianne also got to take a ride on "Mac"
I decided we needed to have a treat about halfway home...Can you believe they ate the entire thing?!?!
Once we got home and got the van unloaded, it was time to do chores.  Once that job was finished, the kiddos wanted to swing.  Apparently, Julianne had met her quota of fun for the weekend.
Until next time...
