Walking with a Helper

Between the end of the school year, Dallas' baseball schedule, and Reba's TBall schedule, we have not been walking our lambs as much as we would like.  Tonight, we got them out, and wouldn't you know, Sugar thought she needed to help everyone.  Thankfully, Reba and Ice Cube were more than willing to let Julianne tag along.
Until next time...

Playing with Ice Cube

Reba and Julianne are loving being able to get Ice Cube out of his pen during the day and play with him.  (Dallas loves to play with him too, it just seems I don't have my camera out in the afternoons)

Here is how Julianne likes to make sure Ice Cube gets plenty of exercise
Julianne has even tried to give Ice Cube a bottle (although the bottle is typically empty by the time Sugar gets a hold of it...)

Bottle Time

This morning, Reba gave Ice Cube his entire bottle by herself.
And as soon as Dallas came home from school, he was out in the pen giving the little one its afternoon bottle!

Meet Ice Cube

Earlier this week, Pa-paw had a lamb born and his momma couldn't take care of him, so Ma-maw has been taking the little guy with her to work this week in order to try and save him.  Ma-maw gave him the name Ice Cube since he was so cold and weak when they started feeding him a bottle.  Pa-paw called Dallas and Reba to see if they would take care of him, and of course, they agreed.  Today, we headed out to meet Pa-paw, Ma-maw and Aunt Lisa in order to bring Ice Cube home.

I snapped this picture of the trees on our way back home.  It had been snowing pretty heavily on the drive there, but had stopped by the time we were heading home.
Once we got home, the kiddos were finally able to get their hands on the little guy.
Little Miss had to get her turn holding him.
Both Dallas and Reba are very eager to help with his feedings.
Think they will be this excited at 2 a.m. when he needs to be fed?
Julianne wasn't quite sure at first what to think, but she is warming up to him.
Ice Cube in his new pen (he is in the garage, not in the house! unlike at Ma-maw and Pa-paw's house)

Thursday Tails

Over the weekend, we did a lot of outside work - including tilling the garden (more on garden work in another post).
Guess what we found on the last pass with the tiller...
Unfortunately, one little bunny was hit by the tiller (but Dallas thinks he found some band-aids is all better now).  We caught three of the little fellows, and we thought about keeping them to raise.  Then, Daddy "Googled" how to raise them and found out it is very hard and with a very low success rate.

So, we just played with them in the garage for a while and snapped a few pictures

We did try to feed them, but none of them were interested in the idea.
Once we were done playing, we took the bunnies back out to the yard.  We found a nice area under a bush close to where we found them.  There were lots of leaves under the bush, so they had lots of cover.  The next morning, Daddy saw a "Mommy" rabbit right next to the bush where we left the little ones, which made the kiddos extremely happy!

Friends

Last week, Baby Mattison came over to play one morning.  It was rather windy that day so we ended up staying in the garage and playing.
Baby M loved the baby lamb (Doc)
After lunch, the kiddos enjoyed coloring together
and Dallas and Reba dressed up in the masks they received in an Easter basket...(Dallas took this picture)
And Reba took this one of Dallas in his mask...(looks like she needs a little more practice aiming)

Working Sheep

Yesterday, while playing in the garage, Dallas wanted to get the bottle babies out to play with them.  He then started trying to walk them - just like Pa-paw does when he shows!
I think they're going to be great showmen!
Needless to say, afterwards, the babies were tired!
Until next time...

*sorry for the poor quality pictures, they were taken on my phone*

Thursday Tails

Our duo is now a trio!
We now have 3 baby lambs living at our house.  Introducing Rafiki
Luckily, the kiddos are still loving have the baby lambs.  They want to check on them each morning, throughout the day, and at night before going to bed.  We have switched away from giving them bottles to them drinking from a milk bucket.  The kiddos miss giving the bottles, but I don't miss getting up in the middle of the night!

Until next time...

Thursday Tails

This past Sunday evening, we found out we were adding to our family...

...baby sheep that is!
Pa-paw called to let us know that one of his ewes had a set of quads that morning, and he was wondering if we would be willing to raise two of them at our house.  The kiddos were pretty excited when we woke them up from naps to head to Corydon to pick them up...
Pa-paw and Reba waiting as Aunt Lisa was getting the babies out of the truck
Aunt Lisa hold one of the lambs for Dallas to see
We put the babies in Fred's dog crate to bring them home
Introducing them to their new home (yes, they are living in our garage)
The kiddos telling them night-night
Dallas took an interest in helping right away
Yesterday, Reba finally decided it would be ok to help as well
I'm glad I have some good helpers - if only I could have them get up in the middle of the night...
We finally settled on names...

Introducing (Lightening) McQueen
and (Tow) Mater
