Rushville Antique Show - Day 1

Earlier in the week, Doug and I were trying to decide if we wanted to attend the Rushville Steam Show or the Greensburg Power of the Past Show this summer.  We have been so busy lately, that we weren't sure if we wanted to be on the road this weekend again, but the weather was to be awesome to be out at the tractor show.  Plus, we could enjoy an extra day at Rushville since the kiddos aren't in school yet.  With Greensburg still 2 weeks away, we don't know what the weather will be like, plus it would be somewhat the same situation with traveling multiple weekends in a row - the Kentucky State Fair will be the following week.  In the end, we decided to head up north and attend the Rushville Show.  We got up early this morning, and made our way to there.

Doug and I convinced the kiddos to partake in the pedal pull today (as there wouldn't be as many kiddos today compared to tomorrow).  They break the classes by age - boys and girls together.

Reba ended up placing 3rd in the 5 year old group
And Dallas placed 2nd in the 7 year old group!
This year, instead of medals, the winners were able to chose a prize in the gift shop.  First place got a hat and a t-shirt, second place had a choice of a hat or a t-shirt (Dallas picked a t-shirt), and third received a show souvenir button.
After the pedal pull, we visited Uncle Junior at his tent.  While the adults chatted, the kiddos climbed on the tractor (which Junior recently finished restoring; it had been his dad's/Doug's grandpa's)
We stayed busy all day between riding lawn mowers, walking the flea market, eating ice cream, and watching the tractors drive by.  We stayed late and enjoyed watching the spark show.

Until next time...

Summer Fun

After Reba's game, we had a pretty empty schedule for the rest of the day.  Doug suggested we finally get the pool set up, and everyone thought it was a perfect idea.
We were able to fill about half of it, and then we decided to give the well a break.  We hope to finish filling it tomorrow, and then we'll be wishing for sunny days so the water will warm up!

Until next time...

Baby, It's Cold Outside

We have a small pen in the barn with a handful of chickens in it.  It doesn't have a nesting box for the hens, so we use 5-gallon buckets.  Doug went to check on the animals this morning before leaving for work.  He sent me the following picture...
Yep, that's all 3 of our cats in one of the buckets!  Apparently, they needed each other's body heat to stay warm.

Until next time...

Easter Weekend Shenanigans

Our Easter shenanigans started on Saturday with Doug's family.  Doug ended up working rather late Friday night, so we didn't head north until early Saturday.  Thankfully, it was an absolutely beautiful weekend, and we were able to spend a lot of time outside.

The kiddos with Gram and Aunt Josie getting ready to "go hunting".

My favorite picture of Reba from the weekend... she was so excited to find a pink egg!
Taking a break to make sure they were getting the same amount of eggs

Dallas' tractor basket got full, so he started using Julianne's caterpillar basket!
Reba still loves it when Daddy tosses her in the air (Dallas loves to be tossed as well, but he is getting too big to fly)
Easter morning started with Mass at Pa and Gram's church.  Reba was over the moon excited about Julianne and her having similar dresses.  Thankfully, I was also able to convince Dallas to wear a purple shirt and tie to coordinate.
We were finally able to get a picture of the 5 of us (the only other one I have is from the day Julianne was born; all piled in my hospital bed)
After church, we headed over to Pa-paw and Ma-maw's house for breakfast.  Then, we loaded up and headed to my cousin's house.  After lunch, everyone headed outside for the big egg hunt.  I was able to get a quick photo of the hunters before they were released out into the yard...
It was so much fun to watch all the little ones roam the yard and find all the treasures.

Little Miss taking a short break - or supervising the boys?
I thought this was too cute of Vivian - "Wait! I got to fix my shoe"

I was able to get these two sweeties to pause long enough for a photo - Grace and Reba
Dallas, Aunt Lisa and Reba
After the egg hunt was over, someone brought out a bubble machine.  The kiddos LOVED it!

Waiting patiently for the bubbles to start...
I was busy feeding Julianne, but Ma-maw grabbed my camera and got this video of the kiddos running about.
Until next time...

Playing in the Snow

Remember how I mentioned that we watched the snow fall from the hospital room?  Well, the older kiddos were itching to get outside and play in it.  Since school was canceled for today, Daddy bundled them up and headed out!

They even let Charlie and Fred out of the kennel to run and play

Dallas thought the snow needed to be raked - or maybe he was pretending to be a plow or disk or cultivator...
Reba was attempting to make a snowball
Then Dallas decided to try his hand at snowball.  He was a little more successful - especially when he nailed Daddy as he came out of the garage!
Until next time...

Fun Friday Fotos - Warrick County Fair

After the ultrasound and monthly baby doctor appointment, we all headed over to the Warrick County Fair.  We had never been, and we were just curious to check it out.  Of course, wouldn't you know, we picked the hottest day of the summer (thus far) to go!  Doug was also interested in watching the poultry judging that was that afternoon.  I believe the gears are turning for when the kiddos get to be of 4-H age!

We headed to the poultry and rabbit area first.  In the corner of the barn were a couple of turkeys, one being a big tom.  The owner was kind enough to get out "Big Tom" for the kiddos to pet.  The young man informed us that he raised the pair since they were a few days old (they are now 5 years old), and that "Big Tom" was very gentle and would follow him around like a puppy!  Dallas loved it - Reba watched from a distance.
After looking at a few chickens, we decided we needed a drink.  Lemonade Shake-ups sure hit the spot on a hot afternoon!
Off to see the rabbits
We then continued through the rest of the livestock.  This young lady was giving her calf, "Molly" a drink as we passed by, and she asked if the kiddos would like to pet her.

Of course, they loved the goats!

We found it interesting to see this wooly one at the fair...
Another goat (that the kiddos found silly because it was sitting like a dog)
We ended our afternoon at the fair with some homemade ice cream and strawberries
Yumm-o!
Until next time...

Rainy Day Drive

The other weekend on our way home from the pool party, we kept driving in and out of rain.  The perk was that the sun was shining from the west and the rain was to the east.  This made for perfect conditions to see a full rainbow! (even if it did photograph well from inside the truck)

Gotta love it when Big Brother photo-bombs a picture
There, that's the picture I was going for...
Until next time...

T-Ball Game #4

Dallas had his 4th game on May 19th.  It was a make up game for one that had been rained out at the beginning of the month.  Unfortunately, Daddy had to go plant that afternoon and wasn't able to attend.  It was rather hot that afternoon, so we opted for shorts for this game.  I reminded Dallas multiple times not to slide into home plate!

The kiddos only advance one base at a time unless it's the last batter on the team, then they continue all the way around.  It's often hard for the kiddos to remember when to stop and when to go, but I loved this running one of Dallas - even if he had to go back to second base :)
While waiting on second, he had to switch batting helmets (we were a few short that night, they were rotating).  The "new" one was a bit small...
Rounding third for home (and, yes, he remembered to not slide!)
Dallas was once again able to play defense up by the pitching machine, and he was able to field a couple hits.
Until next time...
