Not-So-Fun Friday Fotos

Got to love Indiana weather and the storms that come in the spring time.  Oh, wait.  Spring is still a few weeks away!  Anywho...

This was the view out our back door about the time a tornado touched down about 2 or 3 miles to the north of us.
I know it is hard to tell, but there are weather spotters out taking pictures beside the blue lift.

The kiddos got to take their nap in the basement today :)
After that first storm rolled through, we looked to be good.  Then, a hour or so later, the hail came!

That's when I noticed our poor swing set.  That thing has had a very rough life.
At least that was the only damage for us.  Praying for the others that were not to lucky.

I pass this barn every day when I take Dallas to preschool.

Vote for Parkersburg!

Hello Everyone!

Many of you probably remember me posting about the EF-5 tornado that hit Iowa on May 25th. The tornado destroyed about 1/3 of the town of Parkersburg, including the high school. The school has been choosen as a top ten finalist in a nation-wide contest for $25,000 to help the school. If you could please visit this website, choose Aplington-Parkersburg High School, and vote with your email address, I'm sure the people of Parkersburg will greatly appreciate it. The voting ends the 19th of October. I'll try to let you know the results when it is announced!

Thanks in advance.

Until next time...

Sunday's Tornado

Happy Friday everyone.

I just received an email from Doug with a link to aerial pictures taken of Parkersburg, IA - after the tornado that hit on Sunday. I thought I would pass it along because I'm sure many of you have heard about it from the news. Just click here. When you get to this site, you can slow down the pictures (or pause) them by scrolling your cursior over the bottom of the screen and a panel will show up with buttons to control the slideshow.

The tornado was classified as an EF 5 - the highest rating for a tornado. As the tornado went through Parkersburg, it was a mile wide, and it stayed on the ground for 43 miles! Unfortunately, the weather hasn't been cooperative yesterday or today for clean-up. The area has received anywhere from 2 -4 inches of rain, and they are now experiencing some flash flooding.

Last night, there was a storm that passed through our area. We received over an inch of rain and a lot of wind, but nothing severe. Our weekend looks to be great though. Saturday is to have a high of 80, and Sunday is to have a high of 81. Next week looks to have highs in the 70's with rain each day. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Until next time...
