Easter

With Dallas having had a baseball scrimmage game on Saturday, we stayed in town for the majority of the weekend.  We were also able to go to our church for Easter morning Mass.  It is the first time we have done this since Dallas was born.  Thankfully, the kiddos let me grab a quick photo after church.
We then quickly changed and got back in the van to head to my cousin Kathleen's house for the afternoon.  It was a gorgeous afternoon and the little cousins were able to run and play in the yard!
Later in the day, we lined up all the littles for a picture before releasing them into the yard for an egg hunt!
L-R: Brooks, James, Bria, Me (hanging onto) Julianne, Dallas, Grace, Vivian, George Martin, Austin, and Reba
Julianne knew exactly what to do!
Again, the best part is breaking open the eggs to find out what is inside!

Some of the kiddos got a small sports ball in their eggs, they then proceeded to throw it in the yard...

Which led to a bit of a tackle-fest among the older boys
While the girls enjoyed chasing the bubbles
I hope you were able to enjoy your Easter celebrating the joyous resurrection of our Lord with your loved ones.

Until next time...

Feeder League Tourney (Part 2)

At the beginning of the month, Dallas wrestled in the first round of the Feeder League Tourney.  I had mentioned in my last post about the tourney that the second part was to be later in the week.  It ended up that quite a few boys couldn't be there that night because of another school conflict.  It just so happened that the boy Dallas was to wrestle was a part of that group.  The league decided to just finish up those matches at tonight's meet.

Unfortunately, Dallas lost his match, but he still ended up getting a ribbon for his bracket!
The season is almost over, and then we start baseball!

Until next time...

Feeder League Tourney

Today was Day 1 of the Mater Dei Feeder League Tourney.  Pa-paw, Ma-maw, and Aunt Lisa came down after Grandpa's party to join us in cheering on Dallas.

Just a few of the boys warming up before the tourney began.
Dallas wrestled twice this afternoon.
It was quite a long afternoon, and it was nap time for a couple little girls...
The final rounds of the tourney are to wrap up on Tuesday.  I'm not sure if Dallas will wrestle again then, as he lost both of his matches today.

Until next time...

Match #2

Tonight was Dallas' second match.  We have been battling ear infections, sinus infections, and Julianne even has pneumonia; therefore, the girls and momma stayed home tonight.

Doug snapped a couple pictures from the night.
Dallas again wrestled twice.  He was pinned in the first match, and he pinned his opponent in the second match for the win.
Until next time...

First Wrestling Match

Today was the big day - Dallas' 1st wrestling match!  He was a little nervous, but he had a lot of supporters cheering for him.  Doug took him to the weigh in area and snapped this picture...
Our Muscle Man weighing in at 53 lbs
Warmed up and ready to begin.
As I mentioned in a previous blog, Dallas is wrestling in the Mater Dei feeder league.  Mater Dei is the catholic high school on the west side of Evansville.  There are multiple elementary schools that "feed" into the high school.  There were 7 schools that participate in the wrestling program.  I would say there were easily over 150 young boys (preschool thru 8th grade) there to wrestle today.  The JV wrestled the first hour, and the varsity wrestled afterwards.  They try to separate the JV by age and then by weight.  There were 7 or 8 mats going at one time.  For the varsity, there were only 4 mats of wrestlers.

Dallas was able to wrestle twice today.  He got a take down early, but ended up being pinned.
The boys were either a red or green band around their ankle to aide the official in scoring.  Dallas was red both times.
This was his second match.
They actually went into the 2nd period before Dallas got the win!
Keep up the great work Big D!

Until next time...

Wrestler

Dallas has started a new sport at school...wrestling!  Tonight was his first practice.  Doug was able to capture this picture of him in his head gear and trying on shoes.  Doug was able to sit and watch practice tonight, but from now on parents are not allowed at practice.  Dallas is wrestling as part of the Mater Dei Feeder League.  All the catholic schools that "feed into" Mater Dei High School are part of the league.  The league starts at preschool age and continues through 8th grade; therefore, Dallas is a "little old" to just be starting, but I'm sure he will catch on quickly.

Let's hope this goes well, that he enjoys it, and he doesn't come home with a dislocated shoulder or something!

Until next time...we have a lot to learn about wrestling!
