Fun Friday Fotos

Julianne was so proud of herself!  She caught these two kittens all on her own!  (that's Otis on the left, and Candy on the right)
Tonight, Dallas attended a birthday party for one of his best friends and classmates, Dylan.  It was a sports theme party with an indoor batting cage, basketball courts, and arcade games.
My aunt did a coloring contest on her "Thirty-One" page this week.  I printed off the picture for me to complete, and when Reba saw it, she had to have one too.  She really took her time and carefully picked her colors, and I think it turned out beautifully.

Julianne and her Kitty

The other day I mentioned that the kittens are not that tame, but there is one that Julianne is able to catch on a regular basis - this is the one Dallas has named Otis.
Sugar can't get enough of him! (and luckily, Otis takes the "cuddles" all in stride)

Arm Full

I haven't blogged much about the kittens lately, but they are doing quite well.  They haven't gotten as much attention as one would think they would living with 3 small children.  To be honest, they are actually pretty skittish.  Dallas was able to catch 3 out of the 5 this afternoon.
Four of the five finally have names:
The all orange one is Dan-Dan (after Daniel Tiger - Julianne picked that one)
The mostly white and pale yellow one is Candy (picked by Reba)
The white and darker yellow one is Otis (picked by Dallas)
The gray one is Margaret (picked by Reba)
and the Black one is yet to be named (and to be picked by Dallas)

Until next time...

Playing

Something new I'm doing this year is babysitting!  I am watching two kiddos, a brother and sister, a little each day.  Calvin is in Reba's class (and her best bud), and I will have him everyday after school for an hour or so.  I have his little sister, Maddie Jo, all day on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  She is in preschool on Tuesday and Thursday, so she is only here for the hour or so after I pick them all up from school.

Maddie Jo's preschool class was split, and her first day isn't until Tuesday, so she is getting some extra play time around here until then!  Julianne is loving having someone here to play with as well.  We spent a majority of today playing outside, and the kittens decided to make their way up to the house to play on the clem trellis.
After school, Dallas was trying his best to help his baby sister maneuver her pedal tractor.  It didn't work out too well beings that Sugar has no clue when or how to turn the steering wheel...

I think she'll keep to pushing the pedals in circles...

Kitty!

Julianne has spent the last few days following the kittens as they wander around the yard.  This evening, she got brave enough to pick one up.

She was pretty proud of herself, and of course, refused to put the kitty down!

On the Move

Our mommy cat, Butterscotch, can't decide where she wants her kittens.  As I mentioned before, she had them in the flower bed in front of the house.  A few days after I found them, she moved them about 5 feet, but still in the flower bed.  A few days after that, she moved them to the flower bed beside the shed in the back yard.  The end of last week, she moved them to the back patio.  Once she moved them there, I let the kiddos start picking them up.  Apparently, Butterscotch did not like that because she then moved them under the pool cover that I had draped over the fence.  She left them there until today, when she moved them back to the patio!
We'll see how long they stay there!

Kittens

Before we left for Iowa, we knew our cat was close to having kittens.  We were not surprised to see she looked smaller when we returned, but we didn't know where they were.  I finally found them this morning.  I was standing on the front stoop, selling eggs, when I heard them.  After a little looking, I spotted them in the thick of the flower bed.
There are 5: a black one, a gray tiger, a yellow tiger, and two white/light yellow ones.  It will be interesting to see how long the momma, Butterscotch, leaves them there.

Until next time...

More Fun in the Snow

We've been out of school this week because of the snow.  Dallas and Reba have been taking advantage of the time to play outside in it.  Today, Daddy was able to join, too!

The cats enjoying the sunshine
Julianne took her first solo trips on the sled, and loved it!

I was able to get them to stop long enough to snap a photo of my snow bunnies
Dallas even took a few turns pulling Julianne on the sled
Ice Cube even came out to play!

I think he liked it, too.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

We have a small pen in the barn with a handful of chickens in it.  It doesn't have a nesting box for the hens, so we use 5-gallon buckets.  Doug went to check on the animals this morning before leaving for work.  He sent me the following picture...
Yep, that's all 3 of our cats in one of the buckets!  Apparently, they needed each other's body heat to stay warm.

Fun Friday Foto

Apparently, our cats think it has turned cold outside.  When Doug when out to check on the chickens yesterday morning, he found all three cats snuggled together in the chicken pen!  The bucket they are in is suppose to be a nesting box for the hens, but the cats have now claimed it for themselves.

Happy Birthday Reba!

Happy 5th Birthday to our spunky, sassy, intelligent, loving, thoughtful, and silly girl!
Reba doesn't go for her 5 year check-up and kindergarten shots until the end of December, so I'm not quite sure of what her stats are at this point.  I'll update them at a later time.

In honor of her birthday, the kiddos get a day off of school!  Yep, we got enough snow through the night that schools were canceled.

It was rather nice outside, so Dallas and Reba bundled up and went out to play!
They love to use the garden hoe and "move" the snow for us.
They also like to "dig" tunnels with their hands

Our cats didn't know what to think

Phone Photo Dump

Just some random photos that I were taken on my phone these past couple months...

Grocery Shopping this summer has been more interesting have 3 children in tow.  Luckily, one of our stores has these "Shopper in Training" carts that keep the older two occupied.
We have been having a blast in the pool!

Julianne getting to pet one of the kittens
Dallas had a fun time taking pics one evening

Then, he wanted a picture of everyone; therefore, here is our family selfie!
Whenever we go to Target, my kiddos LOVE to slap and climb on these red spheres at the entrance...

Fun Friday Fotos

Reba and her mini-twin after church
Dallas loves to sit with Julianne and "hold" her while watching TV (aka: Reds baseball) in the evenings.
The kittens have grown so much, and they are much more curious!  Let's hope they continue to stay around...

Kittens

On May 5th, we noticed Rhonda had had her babies!  We decided not to go looking for them because we knew she would then move them.  Over the next couple days, I heard them in the barn while doing chores, but I still didn't search for them.  After 3 or 4 days, I wasn't hearing them anymore, and Rhonda seemed to be spending a lot of time on the patio.  I began to think something found her kittens and she lost them.

Fast forward to today.  I was mowing the backyard inside the fence, when I noticed something odd in the flowerbed.
Rhonda's babies were alive and well!
Reba fell in love instantly.

We have 5 kittens: two black and white ones, a gray one, a yellow tiger, and a calico.
Needless to say, we couldn't keep the kiddos out of the flower bed for the rest of the afternoon.
Until next time...
