What have we been up to...

We have just been trying to survive the heat this week.  The end of last week was awesome here in Southern Indiana, the temps dropped back to the high 80's and the humidity finally fell.  This week, we are back into the 90's with ridiculous humidity.  Oh well, the kiddos are enjoying the pool!  Now for some pictures...

Remember that smirk I mentioned in yesterday's post?  I captured it today...just look at how similar they are!!!
oh, and the bunny ears...the kiddos found those while I was unpacking a box and have been wearing 'em since.

This was last Monday at Dallas' follow up for his latest double ear infection.  While waiting on Dr. Alex, Dallas asked for me to take his picture with Reba (well, not in so many words, but you get the idea)
Reba helped me clip some coupons one day (Dallas was away visiting Gram and Pa for the week)
When Dallas came home, he also brought along his new quilt.  He actually got it this past Christmas from Great Aunt Pat, but he didn't have a bed to put it on until recently.  We then let Aunt Pat borrow it so she could enter it in the county fair.  Needless to say, Dallas LOVES having his new quilt on his bed!
One morning I decided to put a headband on Reba - look at how much older she looks!
Saturday evening we headed to the Posey County Fair to see the truck and tractor pulls and to take in some more fair food!  Unfortunately for us, it was the last day of the fair and pretty much everything was gone - except this JD 730 LP.  Dallas wanted to take his picture on it to show Pa.
Reba wetting her whistle during the pulls.
We were surprised at how much the kiddos enjoyed the pulls.  They both sat on the bleachers with Doug and I and smiled and cheered the entire time!

That's all for now.  I have to go apply some make-up to be ready for my drivers license picture.  We are finally going to get them this evening...here's to hoping it turns out somewhat decent.

Until next time...

Our Weekend

I promise I have not forgotten about my Easter pictures. I will get to them soon. We had such a wonderful weekend, that I have to blog about it first. The weather was awesome, so we spent most of our time outside - much like the farmers who rent the ground around our house...
Doug might have called them "show-offs", but both him and Dallas loved watching them apply the anhydrous.
Reba and I did go shopping Saturday morning. Doug called me crazy for taking these pictures and posting them, but I was just too proud of my "steals!"

The best deal of the day was at Target. Here is what I bought...any guess as to how much I spent out of pocket? (HINT: full retail price would be around $50)
$30 - no, lower
$25 - no, lower
$20 - no, lower
$15 - no, lower!

Alright, I'll tell you - $13.05!!!

My other great stop was at CVS. Here's what I bought...any guess as to what my out of pocket expense was there? (HINT: full retail price would be around $125)
$100 - no, lower
$75 - no, lower
$50 - close

$49.16!

Got to love coupons and great sales!!!

On Sunday, we decided to plant some garden. Reba did what she does best in the stroller...
Dallas started out playing on the lawn mower...
Then, he wanted to help put out the flags...
Then, he wanted to help dig (even though there wasn't a need to dig)
Here's how the garden looks so far. On the left hand side of the garden is the strawberry and raspberry patches. Then the flags mark where we planted green onions, carrots, broccoli, spinach, leaf lettuce, beets, radishes and kohlrabi.

The raspberries have really taken off this past week (I hoping to get enough to try my hand at raspberry jam)
In other news, I took the kids to the doctor today. I don't understand how we went all winter being healthy, and now that it is nice out, we are ALL icky. Over the weekend, Dallas' snot went from clear to a shade of green (lovely, I know), and he didn't want us touching his ears when applying sunscreen or taking a bath. Reba, on the other hand, still has a cough and runny nose (clear), not any worse than before but not any better either.

So the verdict:

Dallas - after screaming while I tried to put him on the scales and then falling asleep in my arms while waiting on the doctor to come examine the kiddos - has an ear infection. This is his first one EVER! I guess I should feel pretty lucky that he made it to 2 years and 1 month, but still not fun.

Reba - has a cold. The cough is from all the icky stuff running down her throat. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about it besides wait it out.

So...say a little prayer that these two get to feeling better very quickly.

Until next time...

Hip2Save.com

I have been clipping coupons for a short while, and I found this awesome BLOG giving you tons of hot deals at various places (thanks Jen!). I am addicted, and I just discovered it yesterday. Before, I was only getting coupons from coupon.com because we don't get a "big city" newspaper that carries inserts. This has opened the door (and internet webpages) to many more places to gather coupons and tips on how to really get the most out of them. I thought I would pass it along to all the other blog mom's or just anyone looking to score an amazing deal.

Hope it helps...you can also find Hip2Save by clicking the button to the right.

Until next time...

p.s. if you ever want to get rid of coupons that you receive in your newspaper(s), I'd be glad to take them off your hands!
