Pouring Concrete

The contractors building the mechanic shop on the lot next to us finally poured the concrete floor last week.  They started about 4:30 in the morning in order to get in all done in one day.  Dallas woke up before Reba that morning so we were able to go out and watch them work for a while.

Excuse the bed head and jammies...
This was about 7 or 7:30 that morning, and they already had over half the floor poured!
At one point, there were 3 cement trucks - one getting cleaned (far right), one pouring (in the middle) and one "on deck" (far left)

Until next time...

Yard Work

This past week, we had a lot going on around our house!  It started with the road safety crew stopping by to put up caution barrels and construction signs...

On Tuesday, after dropping Dallas off at preschool, I came home to find this backhoe already at work!
You may remember that there is an auto mechanic shop being built on the lot beside our house.  They offered to level out the ditch that runs in front of our house to make a cleaner appearance for the entrance to their shop.  We loved the idea because the ditch was a bear to mow in the summertime.  We had talked about how nice it would be to level it off, so when our "neighbors" offered to do it - needless to say, we did not refuse!

Dallas loved watching the backhoe work once he got home from preschool
Reba loved watching the bobcat work

It was such a nice day, that we had lunch outside (plus, the kiddos could still see the workers)
On Wednesday,  we had a cement truck pour some concrete (I'm not sure what for exactly, but it was fun for the kiddos to watch)
Here's the final product of their week of work!  They still need to come back and finish smoothing/leveling the dirt so they can seed it.
Until next time...

Wordless Wednesday

almost
The contractors finally started working on the auto mechanic shop that will be on the lot next to our house.  Needless to say, the kiddos were glued to the fence the majority of the day.
Yesterday was All Saints Day, so Dallas and his classmates dressed up as different saints.  Dallas went as St. Matthew.
Until next time...
