Pella Tulip Time 2010

We once again met up with Aunt Katie to head to Pella for the Tulip Time Festival. Unfortunately, it was very cold the day we went :( We woke up to temps around freezing! But, on a happier note...Dallas and Reba woke up to having Pap-paw and Mam-maw, Aunt Lisa and GG here to visit for the weekend!

I wanted to get Dallas' picture standing in the giant wooden shoes like previous years, but he did not want to do it. This was the best I got.
Reba, on the other hand, sat for the picture (I'm loving the new bow from Mam-maw)

There were not too many tulip beds left in bloom, but here are a couple that still looked nice

This year was the 75th Anniversary of Tulip Time. They set the world record for the number of people dancing at the same time in wooden shoes...this was the World Record Committee Float - "Wooden Shoe Rather be Dancing?"

Happy Mother's Day

I received this beautiful hanging basket as a Mother's Day gift. Too bad it had to spend the last two days and nights in the garage because of high winds and a freeze advisory.

I hope all the moms, mothers, mommas, mommies and soon-to-be moms have a wonderful day celebrating the joys and blessings in your lives.

The Rest of the Weekend

I am sorry it has taken me nearly all week to recap the weekend, but I figure why put so many things in one post when I can stretch it out to a week's worth of posts? Right?

While in Amana on Saturday, we did a little garage sale shopping. I find these clothes for Dallas (grand total: $1)
I also picked up a pair of shoes for Reba (got to give them the taste of approval)

Remember the tent I bought at the Williamsburg garage sales? We put it to good use on Sunday

What was Reba watching? Doug and I waxing the truck! Doug and I were able to accomplish that task while Dallas took his nap

We also planted some more garden: tomatoes, green beans, carrots, rosemary and horehound (yes, we are going to try and make horehound candy from it...)

Maifest at the Amanas

Last weekend was the annual Maifest celebration at the Amana Colonies. After getting our chickens settled into their new home, we headed up to Amana to join in the festivities.

We grabbed some brats and hot dogs and had lunch in the grass under a shade tree

We then found the "animal petting area" (aka: two goats, a calf and a few chicks)

Patiently waiting their turn to see the chicks

We strolled down main street and stopped at a few shops. We made it just in time to see the Maipole dance

We ended our trip with a stop at the fudge shop and a stop at the kettle corn stand.

Reba woke up when it was time to go home
