Whew...What a Week!

OK...maybe it has been almost 2 weeks. Things have been c-r-a-z-y for us since we left for Indiana. As I mentioned before, we left Wednesday evening and drove through the night to head to Indiana for my cousin's wedding.

Thursday was spent catching up on some sleep and visiting with Doug's parents. Unfortunately, Doug was not feeling very well, and spent most of the day in bed. (Dallas and I kept a safe distance away). We made it over to see my parents that evening...and Doug got to feeling somewhat better.

On Friday, we stopped to see Granny at her apartment. Then, we were off to meet Mark for dinner. It was the first time he was meeting Dallas. We ate at Cheeseburger in Paradise, and it was delicious! I had the cutest picture of Dallas in one of the beach chairs, but somehow all my pictures got deleted from my camera before I could get them on the computer!

Saturday was the wedding, and it was absolutely beautiful! Dallas did great up until the preacher started his charge to the couple. I took him out, but was still able to see and hear the ceremony. Outside the church, after the wedding, the couple released a pair of doves and rode away in the limo. The reception was great! It was a sit down meal that was excellent, followed by lots of dancing and fireworks! I had (key word) pictures, but they too were deleted from the camera. These pictures are from Katie...so thank her!

East Bound and Down...

...load 'em up and truckin'...

Well, we made it to Indiana! Doug, Dallas and I loaded up the truck and left our house a little before 7 p.m. (central time) last night. We made it to Bob and Connie's house a little before 3:30 a.m. (eastern time) this morning. It was a totally different experience driving through the night. There was hardly any traffic to mess with ... especially on 465! I've never seen it so empty. The disadvantage was not being able to see the scenery. Oh, well...I've seen it many times before.

We are leaving for Iowa on Monday, so bear with me if there are no posts between now and then. I promise to update pictures when I return to my computer.

Until next time...

New Goodies!

Well, we survived the heat the beginning of the week, and have had gorgeous weather since. It is to be a great weekend here in Iowa...I just hope that it travels to the east and south (aka: Indiana)! I should be working on packing suitcases, but first, I had to share pictures of Dallas' new goodies...

The Highchair!

We haven't actually used it to eat, but I finally put it together yesterday. Dallas loved sitting in it while Doug and I ate supper. I think he liked it because he could see us so much easier. I haven't started him on "solids" yet...I think I will wait until we get back from Indiana. Yesterday, I also had my first go at making baby food. I pulled so many carrots from the garden over the weekend that I knew Doug and I wouldn't eat them all. So...what a better thing to do than make baby food! It was very simple to do; let's just hope Dallas likes it! I'm also planning on experimenting with pumpkin, sweet potato, broccoli, and zucchini (all from the garden, of course).

New shoes!

In the last post, I commented about Dallas' dancing shoes...well, here they are! Our neighbors bought him an outfit and shoes after Dallas was born. He has never worn the shoes because I pretty much forgot about them until the other day! I had him wear them this morning so he will be somewhat use to them this weekend. Is it me...or does he look a lot older with the shoes?

OK...I better work on those suitcases!

Until next time...

What we were up to...

First off, I can't believe it is August already! And, we are going to ring in the start of it with a heat wave. I just got finished watching the weather report for Monday: High of 95 with a heat index of 115!!! I'm so glad I'm not walking corn fields. I can't say so much for Doug.

OK...what we were up to this past weekend...

Friday started with a trip to Iowa City for Dallas' therapy session with Leslie. Leslie was very excited to see Dallas' progress over the past month. He is doing so great turning his head to the left! He has also started to recognize his name and will turn to look at you when you say his name (and usually smile). He is also rolling over more. He went on a dry spell for the last few weeks where he wouldn't do it, but while at the therapy session, he rolled from tummy to back a couple different times.

Dallas and I ran a few errands while in Iowa City, and then came home to clean a little. Dallas also had his 4-month check up on Friday afternoon. He weighed in at 18 lbs 12 oz. and was 25 3/4 inches long. He is still in the 95th percentile for his weight, but now in the 60th percentile for his height. With the 4-month check up came 4-month shots. I was nervous about them but very proud of Dallas after it was over. Dallas screamed when he got the shots, but was smiling by the time we walked out of the examining room!

Aunt Katie came down Friday evening to babysit while Doug and I went to Dusty's going away party at Riverside Casino. Doug and I had a great time...and Doug even won a little bit! Aunt Katie and Dallas also had a great time. She said that he wasn't hardly cranky at all...except when he wanted to eat.

Saturday, Doug went to work, and Katie, Dallas and I went shopping. Katie stayed until 5 or so, and Doug got off work about the same time. Doug and I then worked in the garden for the rest of the evening.

Doug's group was given the day off on Sunday, so we were able to go to church together. Dallas slept on the way to church, but woke up just as we walked through the doors. He was such an excellent little boy through mass. He just sat in his car seat chewing on his blanket...not making a sound! After church, Doug mowed the yard and changed the oil in the truck. Our friend, Laura came out to finish the weeding we didn't get finished on Saturday. We also cut the broccoli and pulled lots of carrots. I then spent the rest of the afternoon picking out the worms from the broccoli!

All in all it was a great, fun-filled weekend. Now, here are some pictures!

Doug was dancing with Dallas the other night while watching "Don't Forget the Lyrics". Dallas absolutely loved it.

The boys then finished the evening by reading a story.

Dallas loves sitting in his walker and picking up things from the tray.

This picture was taken after getting home from the 4-month check-up. Do you like the crayon band-aids?

Chillin' with Aunt Katie!

Somehow Doug always manages to catch us napping on the weekends...note to self: take picture of Doug napping!
Dallas' newest thing to wrap himself up. If you look close enough, you will see he has wrapped himself with the burp rag, his chew blanket, and the blanket off the floor.

Until next time...

My Birthday

I just wanted to let you know that I have the best husband in the world.

He called me last night around 6:30 and asked me on a date! He had lined up a babysitter and already called Texas Roadhouse to put our name on the list. Our friend Gema from work has been telling us since Dallas was born that she would watch the little guy. Usually, when we do go out, it is with everyone from work so she hasn't had a chance. Last night, she did. We dropped Dallas off a little before 8 o'clock and headed out. When we got to the Roadhouse, we were seated right away. The food was excellent - like it always is. Doug, of course, told the server it was my birthday. I didn't get the "Big Ye-Haw", but I did get a big dish of ice cream! It was a wonderful birthday.

Finally, I want to thank everyone that sent cards, emails, left comments, and called. It was so nice of you to think of me on my big day!

Until next time...
