Monday...

So...I was informed over the weekend that I have some active readers who are a little upset when I go "days" without posts. Sorry about that - Aunt Marnie.

Nothing too exciting happening around here. Buckwheat is becoming more active; which is very exciting...and kind of a strange feeling. Doug and I are still discussing names all the time. We just haven't found the "right" one...yet. We still have lots of time to decide and then change our minds.

I went to the local Farmer's Market today to finally pick up some pumpkins. I baked my first one of the season today, and then Doug helped me make some pies to take to work tomorrow for Doug's birthday. They look so good...I just want to cut into one right now!

Well, I'm sure you all are tired of my rambling...so I will go check on my pies and "talk" with you later.

Until next time...

Was That Buckwheat?

Just thought I would post a quick note.

While sitting here in the recliner (...with my feet up after a hard day of work...) I felt Buckwheat move for the first time! It was very quick and I didn't actually feel it again for a while, but I'm sure it was him/her!!!

Until next time...

Busy Times

Wow! The weekend went fast!

Saturday, we did get to sleep in for a while until the boys decided they were ready to get up and play. It was such a beautiful day! The wind was light and the sun was out...something we haven't had around here for a while. We washed and waxed Big Red (the pick-up) and then decided to get the Oliver out for a spin around the "block". We had our friends, Jeremy and Laura, over with their two boys. Mitchell and Justin LOVE to ride on the tractor with Doug! Here are a few shots that I was able to capture.

Doug and Justin - I'm not sure who is having more fun

Mitchell driving (with Doug controlling the brakes)!

Sunday morning, Doug and I took off for Peoria, IL to meet my parents. We had a wonderful breakfast with them, and were able to just sit and visit for a couple hours. Doug and I then had to head back to make it to bowling by 4 o'clock. We made it in plenty of time.

I was only able to bowl 2 out of the 3 games because I had a meeting for Church Religious Ed. Classes. Although...I did make my 2nd game memorable before heading out. I bowled a 177...my best ever!

Well...I'm out of here to catch some Z's.

Until next time...

Baby Update

Alright...here it is! The baby update you have been waiting for...sorry it has taken me a little longer to get this one up.

Doug and I went to the doctor for the monthly check-up on Monday the 15th. Everything is still going great. We were able to hear Buckwheat's heartbeat again. It was in the 160's this time (a little higher than the last). The doctor said that was still in the normal range.

We then scheduled for an ultrasound!!! We go on November 12th to actually "see" Buckwheat for the first time. We are super pumped about this! Again, we are not finding out if Buckwheat is a boy or girl, we are just checking on the growth progress. So...look forward to hopefully seeing the post of Buckwheat's picture soon!

And, finally, what you all have been waiting for...my bump!

week 17

I'm not sure if the bump looks all that different in the picture from the last time...but it person...it sure is different!

Until next time...

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all survived your work week, and that you have wonderful plans for the weekend. It has been raining out here in our part of the woods this week. We received about an inch of rain on Tuesday, and another two inches Wednesday night. I didn't get to check the gauge before posting this blog on Thursday evening, but it has been raining most of the afternoon with some very strong winds. Luckily, our weekend is suppose to be dry and the temperature getting back into the 70's.

As for our weekend plans, I'm hoping to make it to a pumpkin patch on Saturday to get me some pie pumpkins. As most of you probably know, I love to make "real" pumpkin pies! I already have the first order in from Doug's co-workers to have pumpkin pie for his birthday treat. I even bought a new pie plate the other day at Kohl's...it is in the shape of a pumpkin!!!

Sunday, we bowl again at 4 o'clock. We don't have to worry about missing the Colt's this weekend because they have the Monday night game! Also, on Sunday, I have a meeting for church. So, another fun filled weekend at the Bergman's.

Until next time...

CMT on Tour

As I mentioned on Friday, Katie met us in Cedar Rapids for a concert. It was the CMT on Tour featuring Sugarland with special guests Little Big Town and Jake Owen.

It was a pretty eventful evening beginning with trying to find something to eat. We met at 6:30 (concert began at 8 o'clock), and went to Legends - a bar not too far from the arena. There were not too many people in there, but they still said it would be a half hour to get some wings!!! Well, the lady never really returned to take our order...so after waiting for half an hour, we left. We were then going to just grab a sandwich at Quizzno's, but they closed at 7 o'clock! Can you believe that?!?! Finally, we ended up at Taco Bell...where it took 20 minutes to get our food.

We made it to our seats right as Jake Owen came on stage. He sang for about 20-25 minutes. Little Big Town came out a little bit later and sang for about 45 minutes. Then, it was time for Sugarland. They were on stage for almost an hour. Here are a few pictures...sorry, my camera isn't the best at taking pictures far away.

I Need A Drink!

Alright...so I have been pregnant for 4 months now, and during that time I have not had the urge to drink (alcohol that is)...not once...not until TODAY! I spent yesterday and today subbing in a sixth grade classroom...and they have to be the worst class in history! Yesterday, they were decent...I only had one student tell me to shut-up. Today, on the other hand...I had 2 students get in a fist fight first thing this morning. I had another student mock me during a lesson. Another student flip me off...and the list goes on! I couldn't believe them. They were just plain awful! As I was leaving the school, all I could think about was wanting a big ole margarita!!! Guess I'll have to wait a few more months before I can have it though.

Hope everyone else had a good Friday...and a great weekend planned.

Katie is on her way down to go to a concert with us. I'll post pics over the weekend.

Until next time...

Colts Win!

We are ... as probably most of you are ... big Colts fans. Unfortunately, living in Iowa, we don't always get to see the games. Luckily today...Fox decided to carry the late game instead of the early game. Regrettably today...we started our bowling league. (The 4 o'clock league, the game started at 3 o'clock here.) We decided to tape the game and watch it after we bowled. The only thing we were afraid of was that the bowling alley would be showing the game...but they weren't.

Needless to say, we were very satisfied with the end result - of the Colts game and our bowling!

Here is a quick shot of the boys enjoying the game...they also love it when the Colts are on TV!

For those of you that haven't really met our boys...
that's Fred on the couch, and Charlie on the floor.

In case you were curious: Doug set his average at 137, and I set mine at 122. We're not sure if we beat the other team...we were missing our 2 teammates, they were missing one of theirs, and we didn't know what the handicap was set at. It was still fun!

No Longer Ours...

When we bought our new home, there were some various things left in the barn from the previous owners. We acknowledged that they still had these items and they would come to clean those things out.

The weekend that our families were out here to help us move, my dad found this beautiful old horse drawn sleigh in the rafters of the shed. Doug and I decided not to mention anything to the previous owners - hoping that by some chance they forgot it was there.

Well, about a month or so ago, they mentioned they would be back over to finish getting things out of the barn...and to get the sleigh down from the rafters.

Bummer.

They remembered.

So...this weekend they were over here to take it away. I was able to capture this picture as they were leaving the driveway.

It was even more impressive up close, and this picture really doesn't do it justice. I had big plans of setting this out in the winter with lights and bells and a Santa and...

Oh, well...it was ours for a little while.

Another Friday

Well, can you believe it is Friday already? Where did the week go? Oh wait...I was in bed sick the last 2 days! Maybe that's why it seemed like a short week. Luckily, I am feeling much better tonight. I did go to the doctor on Thursday morning, and she said that I would just have to wait it out instead of prescribe me any antibiotics. "Rest and fluids" would be the best she said.

So...it hasn't been too monumental around here.

Doug went to Lake Red Rock near Pella with Fred and Anna to do some fishing. They are camping there tonight, so I decided to skip on the trip. I hope they have/had a lot of luck...I'm hungry for some fresh fish!!!

Until next time...

What To Write About???

Hmm...it has just been one of those kind of weeks where there hasn't been a lot going on; therefore, I apologize for not having posted anything recently.

The weather...that's always something to write about...has been a roller coaster lately. We will have a day or two in the upper 70's, even 80's. Then we will drop back into the low 60's for a high. It is beginning to rain as I am typing this. They (the weatherman and woman) says it should last for a couple hours and only getting a half inch out of it, if we are lucky.

The boys have been their naughty selves here lately, too. The other night, Doug and I both fell asleep while watching TV (see...very exciting times around here)...anywho...Fred found where Doug had lay down his glasses. Needless to say, they are no longer wearable. Fred chewed out the lenses, bent the frames, and nearly ate off one end of an ear piece! The really annoying thing about it...Doug just got those glasses this spring and we are to get our pictures taken at church this weekend! All I can say is that Fred has expensive taste.

Like I just mentioned, we are to get our pictures taken at church this coming Saturday. The cluster has decided to do a pictorial directory. I'm excited about it because there are still a lot of people in our church that we do not know.

In addition, my confirmation class is still going well. The candidates were a little more willing last week to join in the discussion topics that I presented to them.

Doug is still busy at work. They plan on finishing their harvesting by the end of the week, but they will continue to be busy shelling for probably another 3 weeks. They are also trying to get ready to start planting in Puerto Rico and Chile. They want to leave for Puerto Rico around November 4th and be back the week of Thanksgiving. They are planning on having over 300 acres this year down there! Last year, I believe they had somewhere between 100 and 150 acres, so they will be busy!

I'm beginning to pick up some more sub days, but it is still pretty slow. Luckily, I'm needed at Monsanto, so I have work everyday. My medical transcribing classes are going well. I got back some tests the other day...100%, 98%, and 96%! I was pretty proud of myself.

In other exciting news...my friend Melissa Mitchell and her boyfriend, Mike Andrew, got engaged this last weekend! Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to meet Mike, but I'm sure I will in due time...maybe at Missy & Andy's wedding... They are planning a February 2008 wedding - so she will be a little busy these next few months.

Buckwheat is doing great. He/She still thinks my bladder is a pillow...but I hear that is normal. We go back to the doctor in two weeks...I wonder if we will schedule an ultrasound at that time? I will try to get a new picture up soon, but I really haven't changed that much since the last one I posted.

Well, for not knowing what to write, I sure did write a short story!

Until next time...
