Bubbles!

The kiddos received bubbles in their Easter baskets from Pa and Gram.  We finally had a decent day to sit outside and test them out!
Dallas was pretty excited that he caught one!
Then, Reba caught one too.

Yumm-o!

Last year, we planted 10 rhubarb plants in our garden, and this year we were lucky enough to have 8 of them come back!  And, boy, oh boy, are they doing great!

Half of the plants (about two weeks ago)
After another decent rain and few sunny warm days, Doug decided it would be safe to "lightly" pick off the plants.  The kiddos enjoyed helping carry the stalks and even taste-tested for us...

Once it was all washed and cut, I put enough for two pies in the freezer!  Good thing we picked "lightly"

Thursday Tails

Over the weekend, Pa-paw and Ma-maw came down to help us "work" sheep.  The lambs were needing their hooves trimmed, wool sheared, and a couple different vaccinations.

Pa-paw was happy to hand the clippers over to Momma...while Dallas watched and learned.

Yep, there's Reba "supervising" again

It was a somewhat warm day (mid-60's), but the kiddos felt they needed to play in the water that was in the pool from a recent rainstorm.
Then, they started using their shoes as scoops...
And the next thing we knew, they were standing and jumping in the water!
They were so proud of themselves!

Wednesday Watering

The kiddos got new watering cans from Pa-paw and Ma-maw for Easter, and they were finally able to use them when they helped water the flowers and pretty much the entire yard!

Tractor Time!

The other weekend, Daddy decided it had been too long since the Oliver had been out for a ride.  So after a new battery and a little work here and there, she fired up!

Patiently waiting to get going...

Dallas even suggested getting a picture of him and Reba!  You got it buddy!
Look at that face; you wouldn't even know the little dude got sick before climbing up in the seat.
(Yep, that day started a week-long stomach bug that hit everyone in the family)

Random Photos

Before everyone had a turn with the stomach flu bug, we enjoy an afternoon "Picnic on the Patio"
During one of the recent rainy days, the kiddos were excited to be able to use the new umbrellas from Aunt Katie while we ran errands in town
The kiddos love to help with laundry (especially matching socks).  I caught Dallas with a pair of Daddy's socks on his feet and hands, while dancing in my bedroom!
Aunt Lisa calls her "Turkey", but one day at t-ball practice, she was definitely a Monkey!

Fun Friday Fotos - T-Ball

This is the first year for Dallas to sign up to play T-Ball.  Unfortunately, there was a little miscommunication between the coach and Momma, and Dallas missed the first 2 practices :(

Oh, well...he is still having fun!

The team doesn't have their first game until May, so we have a few more practices to work on the basics; including hitting from the pitching machine.  Yes, you read that correctly.  The pitching machine.  Even though they call it T-Ball.  Apparently, the kiddo gets x number of pitches from the machine.  If they don't hit, then they get a swing off the T-stand.  Dallas has gotten a few hits from the machine, but we need to work on focus and speed.

Thursday Tails - Reba and Rebecca

The kiddos still enjoy working with their lambs; and Reba will even walk her lamb, Rebecca, on her own!

Our Newest Additions

After the birthday party the other weekend, we stopped at Rural King and picked up some new chicks!

We purchased six new chicks: 1 Black Jersey Giant, 1 Brahma, and 4 Bantams.  We like to think of the Bantams as "miniature" chickens :)

Birthday Party

Dallas was invited to his first "friend birthday party" the other weekend.  When I first mentioned it to him, Dallas wasn't excited to go.  Then, the next day at school when he found out his best friend, Spencer, was going, Dallas was super excited to get to go!

The party was for Eli's 5th birthday.  Eli loves everything cowboy (he loves to wear his cowboy boots, belt and hat to school!) so this cake was very fitting
The party was at The Inflatable Fun Factory in Evansville.  You can see us doing something similar when we first moved to the Evansville area here, here, and here.

Reba bounced for about 5 minutes, and then she was done.  I think she would have liked it more if Doug or I would have gone with her (plus, it was right in the middle of nap time).

Dallas on the other hand LOVED every minute of it!

Dallas and Spencer (they were running right behind the other from bounce house to bounce house the entire time!)

Working the Garden

Remember last week I said that we had spent the weekend working in the garden?  Here are a few pictures I was able to snap of the kiddos helping.
Last fall, we covered the garden with cow manure we were able to get from a neighbor that stopped to buy eggs.  They said we were welcome to it, but we had to shovel and haul it!  We also spread some straw and manure from the chicken house on the garden this winter.  Doug was having a little difficulty getting the tiller through the thick spots of straw, so he asked Dallas and Reba to spread it out.

You know how every job needs a supervisor?  Apparently, Reba self-appointed herself to that role!
After a couple trips to Rural King, we were able to plant broccoli, radishes, spinach, carrots, beets, cabbage, and onions.  Unfortunately, I killed the plants of tomatoes and broccoli we tried starting in late February.  Doug and I think they didn't get enough water while in our greenhouse, so they fried.  Live and learn...right?

Until next time....
