Fun Friday Fotos - Jam' Fest

Pajamas that is!

We spent the night outside of Louisville last weekend while at the Kentucky State Fair, where the kiddos shared a bed.  This is how I found them in the morning...
Earlier this week, Ciara and Mattison came over one night.  After having ran everyone through the bathtub, Dallas thought they needed their picture together...
And, yes, my kiddos are wearing Christmas PJ's...Little Miss found hers in the drawer and insisted on wearing them!
And if you have been around my kiddos lately, you know that their motto is: Monkey See, Monkey Do...
Until next time...

Sheep Showing

I decided to do a slide show of our time at the Kentucky State Fair instead of uploading 20+ photos to this post :)  Enjoy!
Ma-Maw was even able to capture some video of the kiddos showing "Baby"...I think we still need to work on a few techniques...
Until next time...

Greensburg Power of the Past

Last weekend we headed north (once again) for the antique tractor show in Greensburg.  We spent our whole Saturday at the show - starting with the toy show and ending with the horse pulls!

The kiddos ready to watch the tractor games!
Uncle Junior participating in the barrel race
Then, Daddy had a go at it
Watching the games with Pa and Gram
Time for some tractor cruising
Little Miss working on her parade wave
Later in the afternoon, it was time for the kiddie games - first up, pedal pulls!

Dallas placed 2nd in his weight group
He was so proud of his trophy.  He took it with him to preK on Monday to show and tell his teacher all about it!

After the pedal pulls, there was a "Needle in the Haystack" game in which Reba won a prize, and then it was the "Catch a Pig" contest.  I think Reba was trying to make friends with the pig before the games started.
Both Doug and I were in the pen helping the kiddos with the pig game, so I didn't get any pics of that.  I am proud to say that they each caught a pig on their own, but they didn't win.  Let's just say there were some mighty big "4-year-olds helping".

We ended the night by watching the horse pulls!
Stay tuned for some videos from our day at the show...

Until next time...

Vanderburg County Fair

Can you believe I found another set of photos that I had forgot to post!

The evening before going to the Jackson County Fair, we headed to the Vanderburg Fair!  As we were going through the horse barns, this young lady opened one of her stalls so the kiddos could pet the horse more easily.
Of course, we had to stop and see the goats...
...and climb on the farm equipment
Back to the goats
and the chicken barn...we thought this one spent a little too much time on her hair!
Dallas and Daddy think they need to build one of these carriers for Daddy's disk
His Great-Grandpa Gossett would be proud to see that Dallas loves Wheel Horses so much!
Little Miss is still short enough to stand under the high crop tractor
Finally, Dallas thought Pa would like this JD

Overnight Stay at Pa-paw and Ma-maw's

Between the Jackson County Fair and the Morgan County Fair, the kiddos got to stay at Pa-paw and Ma-maw's house!  I apologize for just now realizing I had not posted these pictures!

This was the day after the Jackson Co Fair - the kiddos helped take some lambs to their "new home" (i.e. - the butcher shop)  Think they were a little tired from the show the night before?
Ma-maw got out a sprinkler for the kiddos to run through
You drop balls down into and then the water shoots the ball into the air!
I don't think Little Miss would get too close to the water
Of course, they still love the tree swing!

They were wanting to play guitars, so Pa-paw found the real thing!
All ready to go help do the barn chores - I think Dallas was pretending to be a chicken :)
Until next time...

Diggin' Diggin' Diggin' (now with video)

Over the weekend, Doug and I decided to dig up the first mound of sweet potatoes to check how they were doing.  In Iowa, we would dig them right before the first frost; but with planting almost 2 months earlier than we did in Iowa, you need to harvest earlier!
Check out what we found...

Doesn't it look as though he is holding a field mouse and a rat by their tails?

The kiddos had so much fun helping us dig...and we came out with quite the haul!
Now...what are we going to do with all of these?
Until next time...

More from the Rushville Tractor Show

Here are some other photos from our weekend at the tractor show...

Dallas thought this garden tractor was pretty cool with all the "chromes"
Aunt Josie in the slow race, but she was too fast
Reba decided to nap during the tractor games
There's Daddy in the fast start - he won his first race, but got beat in the second round
Then, we went on a ride around the grounds, and Dallas decided it was nap time!
Little Miss wanted to stay well hydrated while watching the steam engines do some plowing
On Sunday before going to the show, we stopped by a neighbors place to check out all the Allis' he had on display in his yard...

Taking a break from the tractor rides to sit with Aunt Josie
One last ride before heading home...
Until next time...
