A New Bird Feeder

Dallas and his classmates made bird feeders during their Christmas party on Tuesday.  They are fairly simple: a pine cone covered in peanut butter and then rolled in bird seed.  Dallas was so excited about it when I picked him up from preschool on Tuesday and talked about the bird feeder the whole way  home.  That night at supper, I tried to get Dallas to tell Daddy about it, but he said he forgot what he had done at school.  Fast forward to Wednesday late morning - Dallas all of a sudden begins to tell Daddy about the project and how he "HAD to hang it on the Christmas tree" for the birds to eat!  Luckily, we were able to convince him to hang it on a tree outside :)

Ready to go out...
Wait, Reba had to drink her "hot chocolate milk" before going out!
Daddy had to lift Dallas in order to reach the lowest branch
Let's hope the birds like it!

Cookies for Santa

Lucky for us, Santa accommodates and travels early to some very special boys and girls!  Last night we prepared for Santa by making cookies...

...and licking the spatula
and the scoop...
Then, we prepared a plate for the jolly guy; along with some carrots for the reindeer (Dallas thought the carrots needed to be on top of the cookies, and little sister had to followed suit)
We put the plate out where St. Nick would see it
and made a card as well
Check back later to see all the goodies he left for us :)

Until next time...

Tractor Tales

We got another tractor!
A pedal tractor that is :)
First, you have to check to make sure you have all the parts
Then, you play with the wheels while Daddy and Momma work on putting the tractor together
Dallas even helped by holding the wrench
Still a little short in the pooper to make it go!
They were a little excited...
Just imagine him combining a tractor sound and the words "Ollie, ollie, ollie" as he rode around the basement

Live Nativity

Doug and I are trying our best to teach Dallas and Reba the true meaning of Christmas - the birth of Jesus - so when we were told about a local church portraying a live nativity, we knew we had to take the kiddos!

The members of the church did an excellent job, and the kiddos were engaged throughout the entire story.

The birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
The Shephards were visited by the angels
The Shephards and Wise Men all traveled to see the new King

p.s. I am finally caught up on past blog posts...keep scrolling to see about our vacation to Iowa and more (I back dated them so they appear on the actual date of the events) Make sure to look past the Polar Express ride as there are three new ones "before" that one :)

Side Trip on the Drive Home

When we left Aunt Katie's house, we stopped by the Williamsburg area to visit friends.  We were able to see many of Doug's former co-workers, our former neighbors, and Reba's Godparents (and friends from church).

At our former neighbor's house, the kiddos took a liking to their bunny!

It was a fabulous end to our vacation to see so many friends!  Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to visit with us.

Until next time...

Oh, What Fun!

It is to ride, in a one two horse open sleigh!
Aunt Katie treated us all to a sleigh ride through Humboldt one evening.  Lucky for us, the weather was mild for the second weekend of December!  The kiddos loved listening to the sleigh bells on the horses and admiring the lights.

Downtown Humboldt
Near the end of the ride is one house that is known for it's decorations - the following pictures are all from this one house!

Our sleigh driver told us it costs $6 an hour to run the lights for this house alone!

A nice family shot at the end of our trip
Dallas wanted to pet the horses
And, of course, so did little sister!
Until next time...

Christmas in Iowa

This year, we took the Robertson Christmas to Iowa to Aunt Katie's house!  We were excited to make the trip back to Iowa, and the kiddos were excited to get to open presents two weeks before Christmas!
Both Reba and Dallas loved tearing in to the presents.  They started out waiting their turn, but by the end they could care less what everyone else got as they were just focused on their gifts :)

Thanks again Aunt Katie for having us. We had so much fun!

Until next time...
