Finally Friday!

It is finally the weekend! Tomorrow, the Robertson's arrive for a fun packed weekend of food, catching up, food, games, and some more food! I'm so excited for them to see our place...plus, I'm excited to share our news of Buckwheat. Doug and I haven't seen any of them since Christmas. We decided at the first of August, when we started to tell people, to wait until Labor Day so Doug and I could tell them all in person. Dad says it has been very hard keeping it a secret! So...after this weekend, I will be able to actually share my blog page with them too!

Doug made it home from Illinois last night about 9:30. He had a great trip...he loves to travel and visit different plant sites with his job. He was a little sad that he was so close to the Farm Progress Show and not able to attend. Next year it will be back in Iowa, so he will be able to go then.

I had a catechist meeting at church on Wednesday night. I can't believe it is already time to start religious education classes again. This year I will be teaching the confirmation candidates on my own. Last year I was a "co-teacher," which was an excellent way for me to become even more knowledgeable on the Catholic faith and religious ed classes. I'm pretty nervous about going solo, but the class is going to be much smaller (last year we had 17 candidates; this year looks to be about 7 or 8), and they are to be mostly girls (again, last year we had 4 girls!).

Tonight is the last home game for the Kernels. Doug and I love to go to the ballpark, especially for the last game of the season because all the food is $1!!! Plus, they have more entertainment than usual and give away a lot of things between innings. We don't usually catch anything, but it is still fun trying. I think this year the Kernels might even be getting into the playoffs as the wild card!!! (In case you haven't checked out their link...the Kernels is a Single A baseball team in Cedar Rapids. They actually use an ear of corn for part of their logo!)

Until next time...

What a Day!

Hey All! Thanks so much for all the comments...I didn't know how many people would actually view my page, but I was super excited to see the response! I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I do.

Today was another busy day (as usual). I have cut my hours at Monsanto this week. I decided on this for a few different reasons.

1) I'm beginning to sub again; school resumed last week, and I already have a handful of days on my schedule starting tomorrow.
2) This weekend is the big Robertson Reunion, and I have a few things to finish getting ready before everyone arrives. (4 days left!)
3) Last, but not least, I'm trying out a new "career". I have started on classes for medical transcribing. I'm really excited about this because I will be able to do this from home after Buckwheat arrives. My plan is to finish the "course work" by the end of January, and have some work lined up before March 24th (Buckwheat's Estimated Time of Arrival). The courses are all on my own, which makes it great because I can do as much as I want at a time. I've been working on the lessons in the afternoon while the house is empty and I can concentrate.

After working around home until 5:30, Doug got home from work and decided we should mow the yard before the rain comes. We are expected to get another couple of inches before morning. Plus, Doug is leaving for Illinois tomorrow afternoon for work, and he won't be home until late Thursday night.

We finished off the night spending some time playing with the boys, and enjoying some watermelon from Dean and Naomi's garden! It was delicious!!! Charlie and Fred thought so too.

Until next time...

Last Weekend

On Saturday, Doug and I went to visit Katie. We had not been to see her all summer, and we had been wanting to go to the races in Algona before they finished for the year. We first had to mow our yard on Saturday morning, and finally made it to her house by 5:30-ish. The races were a great time! We always enjoy ourselves when we go, and luckily it was a great evening (it stopped raining on Thursday) to be outside.

We made it home Sunday early evening, to begin arranging things for the "Raggin' Rockin' Robertson Reunion" that is to be held at our house this weekend. We moved the tractors around in the 2nd spare room; cleaned up the outside furniture; washed off the porch; and hung up a few more things on the walls! I have a small to-do list left to work on this week...vacuum, dust, grocery shop, laundry, you know...the usual things.

The latest up date to my page is that I've added a poll off to the side for everyone to cast their vote on what Buckwheat will be. (side note: Doug had decided to call the little one Buckwheat instead of "it"). I got the idea for the poll from Missy's soon-to-be sister-in-law's blog page...hope she doesn't mind :o) Also, look forward to pictures soon of my growing bump! Most people don't think that I have changed that much, but I sure feel like I have.

That's all for now...have a super Monday!

I'm a Blogger!

Ok Y'all! Missy convinced me of it...here is the start to my new life as a Blogger. I'm sorry if my site is not up to par...but I'm just beginning and I still have lots to learn! I've enjoyed reading other people's sites, and with the little one on the way, I think this will be a great way to keep y'all informed of what is happening. Feel free to leave questions, comments, and suggestions!

Have a great weekend...hopefully, we will stay dry for a couple of days.
