Out with the Old, In with the New!

The first part of December found our home without a working oven.  After a week of looking and researching, I finally decided on which one I wanted to purchase.  Add another 10 days for it to arrive for pick was finally time to install it.
My old oven...
New in the box!
Doug working to hook up the gas line
Once it was hooked up and cleared of leaks, we discovered the new stove was about 1/8th of an inch too wide for the space!  Thankfully, there is a short counter/cabinet to the right of the stove, and we were able to take up the countertop and slide it over the needed space.  Unfortunately, we peeled some of the paint in the process, but (luckily) there was matching paint downstairs that had been left from the previous owners!
Ta-Da!  The new stove!
I asked Dallas what I should make first in the new oven.  His reply, "A pie!"  I asked what kind of pie.  He answered, "Rhubarb!"  So...rhubarb pie it was!
Until next time...

Too funny that a 4 yr. old (almost 5) would want rhubarb pie first!

I like the new stove!! It looks so snazzy! :) So, this rhubarb pie.. is like really rhubarbery? You know, a bit tart?

Yes, Missy, it is tart...I only add 1 cup of sugar to the filling. Some people will add strawberries, but I don't. Doug loves for it to be a tart - of course, then you add a scoop or two of ice cream!

It's pretty good stuff!
