Fun Friday Fotos - Sleepy Girl

Reba has been falling asleep in various places the last week.  No matter what her age, I still love to watch her while she sleeps!

Today, it was while sitting in her room for a time-out
Earlier in the week, she curled up with me on the couch
Another day, it was after playing outside that she fell asleep while reading a book in the recliner

Wordless Wednesday - Unofficial start to Summer?

I passed not one, but two, hay fields that had been mowed yesterday as I was taking Dallas to preschool.

Fun Friday Fotos

Last night after supper, the kiddos wanted to go back outside and play with the dogs.
(The Boys were out earlier in the day, but Fred escaped through the fence, thus earning himself a "go straight to jail kennel" card!)

The kiddos chased the dogs all around the yard!  All four of them had a grand time.
Once they were exhausted from the chasing, all four actually sat still long enough for a great photo!
Enjoy the weekend

Friends

Last week, Baby Mattison came over to play one morning.  It was rather windy that day so we ended up staying in the garage and playing.
Baby M loved the baby lamb (Doc)
After lunch, the kiddos enjoyed coloring together
and Dallas and Reba dressed up in the masks they received in an Easter basket...(Dallas took this picture)
And Reba took this one of Dallas in his mask...(looks like she needs a little more practice aiming)

Take me out to the Ballgame

After spending the afternoon at Aunt Pat's for Easter, Doug and I met up with our friends Mark and Laura and headed to Cincinnati to catch a baseball game!  It was opening weekend for the Reds, and it was super crowded!
Doug and I before heading into the ballpark.
The view from our seats
Brandon Phillips up to bat
A little between inning entertainment from Mr. Redlegs
Then, retro Mr. Redlegs made an appearance (the kiddos would have loved it - as they love Mr. Redlegs)
We had a wonderful time even though the Reds didn't win.

Easter Weekend - Day 1

On Saturday of Easter weekend, we were able to spend the day with Daddy's side of the family.  It was an absolutely beautiful day, so Daddy decided to get the Oliver 550 out for a spin.  The kiddos loved it!

Reba taking a ride with Daddy
Cousin Aden taking a ride
Doug even gave Cody a driving lesson and let him take a spin around the yard
Dallas drove rode a round with Momma
Then it was time for the egg hunt! (They were a little excited to get going)

Crackin' open the eggs to find all the goodies!

Fun Friday Foto - Diggin'

Last weekend, we were able to bring Dallas' digger back from Pa-paw and Ma-maw's house.
Needless to say, he has been busy moving lots of dirt sand.

Chicken Coop

My other big DYI project last week (while the kiddos were on spring break) was to build a chicken pen in the barn so they would no longer be in the garage!  Luckily, there was some work already done that I was able to "build on".  I think the original owner of this house once raised goats; therefore, there are were three stalls across the back wall in one section.  I was able to remove a "gate" that separated two of the stalls and made a larger area.  Then, I lined it all with chicken wire!

Reba is standing in front of what used to be the middle stall, and Dallas is in front of the far right stall.  I left that gate operatable so we can get in to feed, water, and one day collect eggs!

As Dallas says, "Man! The chickens sure are growing!"
I'm so glad that he is not afraid of them.  He will go right in the pen and grab one!  He'll probably continue to do so until one of them pecks him good!
Reba tries her best to catch the chickens too, but she's just not as fast as big brother.  Thankfully, he was kind enough on this day to hold one chick for Reba to pet it.

Milestone

Yesterday, I decided it was time to change up Reba's bed.

Unfortunately, she has had an accident at night for the last 3 nights.  I don't know if it's because I'm not hearing her when she wakes in the morning or what exactly the problem is...it could be that she has been having too much to drink at night as well.

Checked out who napped like a champ yesterday afternoon...
Reba also went down great at bedtime.  She did get up about five minutes after I left the room saying she needed to use the bathroom, but then went right back and fell asleep.

We do have a twin bed for her, but it is in the basement and Daddy has been working some crazy hours and hasn't been able to help me drag it upstairs.  We'll go this route for now, and then make another transition once work slows down for Daddy.

I'm so glad my kiddos are great sleepers, and make these transitions easier!

Wordless Wednesday - Transitions

You can go ahead and call me a "soccer mom", but I'm lovin' all the room!

The Kiddos' Surprise!

In my last post, I mentioned that the kiddos would be excited to see the project I completed while they were on Spring Break.  Well, here is the big reveal!

Yep! A sandbox!  and yes, it is rather large (8 ft x 8 ft)  It needed to be large enough to hold the digger Dallas received for his 3rd birthday!
The kiddos were very excited to get out all of their old sandbox toys and start diggin and buildin!
I even added two storage boxes at one end for the larger sandbox toys

The project took me pretty much all day.  I don't want to think how long it would have taken if I would have had two little helpers!

Luckily, the previous home owners left a lot of lumber in the barn; therefore, I had to buy very little.  I found a quarry close by that I was able to buy a load of sand (1.1 tons to be exact) instead of buying multiple upon multiple bags of sand.

The next day, I decided that I needed some type of "lid" to keep any wondering neighbor cats from using it as their master bathroom.  I built two of these frames (4ft x 8ft) and wrapped them in chicken wire.
I was afraid that they would be too much for the kiddos to get off the sandbox, but Dallas proved me wrong last night and got them both off by himself!

I think they were pretty surprised by the sandbox, and I think they love it already!

Until next time...
