All Lined Up

The workers set the new pews in place at our church today

They also worked on redoing the "Cry Room", which includes new doors!

Welcome Home!

After church, Doug and I headed to Corydon to get our kiddos back from Pa and Gram.  We decided to meet at Frisch's Big Boy.  Each time we eat there, the kiddos always want their picture taken with the Big Boy!
I'm hoping Gram or Aunt Josie will be sending pictures of their adventures, that I will be sure to share at some point!

New Layer

When Doug brought the eggs in from the barn today, he instructed me to check out what he found.
It appears we have a new hen laying!  See the small brown egg on the bottom right?  A new layer will produce small eggs at first, and over the course of a week or two she will gradually lay larger ones.  What makes it even more cool is that this new girl is one that we hatched this winter!

Bowl full of Cherries

I guess I should say "bowls".

The kiddos (all three of them) are staying with Gram and Pa this week.  So I was able to work on pitting the cherries Gram shared with me, without little people helping!  I was able to put enough pitted cherries in the freezer to make 3 different pies.  I would have gone ahead and made one today, but Doug and I are still trying to finish the black raspberry pie I made last week!

Happy Father's Day!

I hope all the dads had a fabulous day!  Isn't it funny how on Mother's Day, dad takes the kids out so mom can have quiet time; but on Father's Day, the kids hang on dad?

We had our first sheep show of the summer today.  It was the start of the Rush County Fair, and the kiddos were pretty excited to show their lambs.  They were a great help getting them ready for the ring.

A girls got to look her best!
Dallas even walked his ram lamb and ewe lamb in and around the ring without using a halter!
My mom offered to take a family picture of us, and you all know how difficult it can be to get everyone to look at the camera...my phone put together the multiple shots into a video clip!  It's kind of funny watching how much everyone moves in the matter of seconds...
Here is the best one...
Here are a few more pics from our time in the ring (Thanks Ma-maw for being the photographer!)...

Reba's ewe lamb, Doc, won Champion of the Dorset breed, so she got to go back for the Supreme drive.  Little Miss was a tad bit excited.  She kept asking if she would win a trophy...
If only they gave the award based on the "best smile"
Julianne tried to help when it was time to load up and leave
Saying bye-bye to Pa-paw and Ma-maw before going to spend time at Pa and Gram's...

After the show, Doug and I headed back to Pa-paw and Ma-maw's to finish loading our things on the truck.  We were able to outrun the rain and storms until we were about an hour away from home.  Luckily, it was a thin line, and we were able to drive through it.

Going Up

While we were in Iowa, the workers added carpet to the upper level at our church.  They used a lift to raise the rolls up and over the balcony rail.

The past few days and today have been spent piecing the Communion Railing back together.
According to the Facebook post, the railing was purchased in 1919 and was dedicated to the veterans of World War I.
These awesome guys are going off of the above pictures trying to piece the puzzle back to its glory.

They did it!

Kittens

Before we left for Iowa, we knew our cat was close to having kittens.  We were not surprised to see she looked smaller when we returned, but we didn't know where they were.  I finally found them this morning.  I was standing on the front stoop, selling eggs, when I heard them.  After a little looking, I spotted them in the thick of the flower bed.
There are 5: a black one, a gray tiger, a yellow tiger, and two white/light yellow ones.  It will be interesting to see how long the momma, Butterscotch, leaves them there.

Sleep and Eat

We are still trying to get back to normal!  Little Miss fights to go without a nap most days, but sometimes it just catches up with her...
My black raspberries have finished up for the year.  It seemed very short, but they did peak while we were gone.  Thankfully, the neighbor boy that took care of our animals, also picked the berries!  I thought they would be best in a pie.
Not the prettiest, since it bubbled over the edge, but it tasted just fine with a scoop of ice cream!

Washing

We are planning on heading north for a sheep show this weekend, which means the lambs need to be washed!

Dallas was excellent help this evening - he did a lot of the blow drying!
I mentioned a while back about how it is amazing the difference taking some wool off does to the lamb, well check out the difference a bath makes!

In other news, Reba has been helping change Julianne's diapers lately.  She is getting quite good at it too.  Tonight, Dallas wanted to help (aka: show up his sister), so he changed Julianne while Doug and I were finishing up the sheep.  I thought it looked a little awkward, but didn't think much about it until I went to put her jammies on...
Yep, that's a diaper wedgie with a backwards diaper!  At least he tried...

Catching Up

We made it back yesterday from our vacation to Iowa.  Last night, Dallas and Reba said they were going to see Daddy before he went back to work this morning.  Me, being the good parent, stayed in bed.  When I got up though, this is how I found them...
I'd say they did see Daddy, but they didn't last much past that!

Lightening Bugs

One night when we got home from a baseball game, Daddy took Dallas and Reba out to catch lightening bugs (or fireflies).  They asked every night of the following week to go back out.  Unfortunately, the weather had turned cooler, and the bugs weren't out as much.  They finally got the chance to get back out tonight...

Dallas and Reba filled their jar and couldn't wait to keep their treasures in their room.
Julianne had other plans...she wasn't ready to come inside

End of Vacation

We woke up Sunday morning, and headed back to the fairgrounds to help tear down and clean up.  The kiddos and I were a little later than everyone else.  All the tables were down and being put away when we arrived.  I was a little surprised to even find Pa-paw sweeping the floor!
After finishing up at the fairgrounds, we all went out for lunch.  One last picture with Aunt Katie before we headed home.
We were not too far down the road when this was the scene in my mirror!
We drove to Hannibal, MO, and spent the night.  We were able to go swimming at the hotel the next morning before finishing the drive home.

Oops, Momma might have forgot to pack a swim diaper...
