Pedal Tractor Drag Races

Over the weekend, Dallas and Reba went with Pa, Gram and Aunt Josie to the Brookville Tractor Show.  On Saturday, they had kiddie tractor races.  Thankfully, Aunt Josie captured the excitement on video for Daddy and Momma (and all of you) to see!

It was a single-elimination style competition.  Dallas ended up racing 3 times...

Race 1
Race 2
Race 3 - for the championship!
We're seeing a new career path for Dallas' future!

Here's our Champion with his prize (a semi truck and trailer with a new tractor!) along with the Runner-up, Dalton.

Fun Friday Fotos - Dinner Date at the Park

One night last week, Daddy suggested going to the park to play and grill, so away went!

Reba was so proud of herself - she could climb on and off by herself!

Apple Orchard

On Tuesday, we headed out with a local mom's group on a field trip to the apple orchard and pumpkin farm.  You might remember us doing this same trip last year...Click here to see last year's visit to the orchard.

Dallas spotted this huge pumpkin right away and wanted his picture taken with it
Reba chose the little pumpkins
At the start of the tour, we learned about Johnny Appleseed and how he started many orchards by collecting the seeds from cider mills
The orchard is starting to replace some of their original trees (not ones planted by Johnny Appleseed), this young tree was the only tree in the orchard to still have apples on it
The last original tree - over 50 years old!
We were even able to sample some of the cider they make
It was delicious!
Before heading home, I had to get one more picture...
...and compare it to last years
Until next time...

Celebrating 125 Years

Last weekend, our church had a wonderful celebration for their 125th year as a parish.  We were blessed to have the bishop in attendance to say Mass, which was followed by an exceptionable pork chop dinner, and games for all.  I was able to snap a few pictures of the kiddos playing games...

Dallas trying his hand at the ball toss
Picking a duck
Little Miss trying to decide which duck she wanted...
There was also a ring toss, hula hoops, and a dunk tank - which the kiddos could have stood at forever watching!  We then enjoyed a bowl of ice cream before heading home to take naps :)

Until next time...

Moments I don't want to forget...

I often tell people that I wish I had a video camera running all the time to capture various moments with the kiddos and random things they say.  So if these videos look a little "staged" - they are.  I admit it, but I just want to always remember their little voices saying such important things.  Enjoy!

Reba's ABCs
Reba's Prayer
Dallas also surprised me the other day when I overheard him saying the Pledge of Allegiance.  I am so thankful that he attends a school that believes in saying it - especially with the added bonus at the end!

Fun Friday Fotos - PBS Fun Fest!

Last weekend, my friend Carla passed on some information about the PBS (Free) Fun Fest that was going to be held in downtown Evansville.  She also mentioned that a few of our favorite characters were to be in attendance.

Any guesses...
Once arriving, we first saw that the fire department had one of their trucks open so that the kiddos could climb aboard
Then, we found one of the main people we had come to find...Curious George!
Dallas walked up with little no fear, but Reba wouldn't go unless Momma went too.  Thankfully, the mom behind us was kind enough to snap a picture (Daddy was at work that morning)

There were many booths set up at the festival with crafts, coloring, and various games, but the kiddos weren't interested in them...they just wanted to see the characters!

On our way to find more friends, we passed the booth for PBS' newest show, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (think modern-day Mr. Roger's).  Isn't this a "Grrr-ific" kid?
Next, we found Super Why - you might remember Dallas mentioning this as his favorite show in this post
Next to Super Why was The Cat in the Hat - after I took this picture and started to walk away, Reba became upset because she didn't get her picture taken, but again...she wouldn't go near the characters without me.
To help calm her down, we went to visit the clowns who were doing balloon creations!

Dallas chose a blue dog - to match his shirt
Reba picked a purple butterfly - because "that's my favorite"
Reba then saw the chance to paint!
Yes, that is a car she is painting!

After Reba changed paint brushes, another child (I'm going to say somewhere in the 8-10 age range) so kindly ran into her, knocking the paint brush in Reba's hand, and added this bit of paint to Little Miss' hair and face...
Luckily, it was washable poster paint, and it came off (and out) very easily!

As we were getting ready to leave, Clifford the Big Red Dog arrived!  As we were waiting in line, Reba's butterfly balloon popped a wing...hence the unhappy little girl
Lastly, the kiddos each got to pick out a new book!  Don't they looked thrilled?!?!
Overall, we had a great time - here's to hoping for more fun family outings as the kiddos get older and become braver in new situations :)

Until next time...

Play Place

The other day, I splurged and took the kiddos to McDonald's for lunch.  Typically, they do not want to play after eating, but this trip was different and they asked to go play.  Since they both had ate their whole meal, we they played!

Once they figured out how to get all the way to the top for the big slide, they couldn't get enough of it!

Not-so-Wordless Wednesday - Hoosiers 3

Dallas sinks the long shot!

Reba adds 2 points to the board

He was practicing his free throw "routine" - spin the ball in his hands, look at the basket, spin again (with tongue out) and then shoot.

Going for the dunk!
Until next time...check out these previous posts of the kiddos playing basketball:

Practice Makes Perfect

The other weekend, the kiddos spent a couple nights with Pa and Gram.  Gram happened to be borrowing the 550 that weekend, so Dallas practiced his "Fast Start" skills.  You might remember him practicing in this prior post.  Enjoy!

Chug a lug a luggin’ 5 miles an hour...

...On my International Harvester New Holland Combine

Last week, Daddy was harvesting at the Poseyville field, so I surprised the kiddos by taking them to the field so they could watch the combines.
Reba insisted that I take picture of her new shoes for all the blog followers to see...
Here comes Daddy!
Daddy took a break and ate supper with us, and then he was back to harvesting

Yes, we ended up staying until it was dark...the kiddos just didn't want to leave.  Then, the farmer (who happens to be a friend from church) came to move the semi off the road and into the field.  He asked the kiddos to help him.  They were in 7th Heaven!  When Farmer Frank started up the semi, Dallas smiled and said, "Just like on Smokey and the Bandit."  Farmer Frank even let Dallas pull on the air horn, which he was pretty excited about as well.

Watching Daddy dump into the trailer one more time before heading home...
Aunt Katie - do you recongize those hats?  I only let them wear them in the van...
Oh, and here's a video that Aunt Josie captured the other weekend of the kiddos singing...International Harvester by Craig Morgan

Fun Friday Fotos - Pa-paw's Helpers

Over the Labor Day weekend, Pa-paw was helping Daddy replace the outside faucet...good thing he had some good helpers!

Then, Pa-paw might have sprayed someone with some water...
