What! No Rain?

Yea!  It finally stopped raining (for today anyway).  In the last week, we have received over 11 inches of rain here in southern Indiana.  It did stop for Friday and Saturday, so we took advantage of the sunshine and headed outside!  Friday we met Daddy for lunch at our favorite park in Haubstadt!  Then, Saturday morning we headed over to Newburgh and walked around some of the downtown shops and along the river walk.  It is crazy to see how high the Ohio River is at this point...and they are calling for more rain starting tonight and through the week :(

As we were making our way back to the truck after our walk, we saw a couple tug boats and barges coming up the river.  There happened to be a nice area for Doug and I to sit and  watch, and the kiddos could run around and "watch".

Here's a slide show of some pictures I was able to get of the flooding

Reba's First Ponytail!

I can't believe her hair is actually long enough to go back into a ponytail!
Not gonna lie, it did take a bit of hairspray to keep the sides back :)

What did the Easter Bunny Bring You?

Have I mentioned my kiddos are very spoiled loved?  Not only did the Easter bunny find them early at Gram and Pa Bergman's house, he found them Easter morning at two different places!  I wasn't able to get pictures of when they found their baskets first thing Easter morning; I was still getting ready for church and Dallas was just too anxious (he gets that from his Aunt Lisa :)  Enjoy the few pictures I was able to capture...

Happy Easter - Part 2

Easter morning started with Mass...everyone was looking their best in their bright spring colors!
Then we headed south with Ma-maw, Pa-paw and Aunt Lisa to go to my cousin Kathleen's house for dinner and more egg hunting!  We were so lucky to have the rain stop again that afternoon to enjoy a lot of time outside.  It was so neat watching the egg hunt today because there are so many little ones my kiddos age!  They did a fantastic job playing with each other - special thanks to George Martin for sharing so many of his toys!  Enjoy the pictures...

Easter Egg Hunt

Today we had an Easter dinner with Doug's mom's family at Aunt Pat's house.  As always the food was delicious and the dessert table was over-flowing with soooo many choices!  After we ate our fill, the rain stopped long enough for the bunny to hide some eggs for the kiddos.  It didn't take either of them very long to get the idea of what to do...

After all the eggs were found, we headed inside to open the eggs!

Speech and the Easter Bunny

As I mentioned in a previous post, Dallas is going to speech therapy.  We learned at our first visit that he is "low-toned"; meaning he has low muscle tone in his face and mouth.  Thus explains a lot of the drooling.  The therapist didn't act like this was a "major" problem, and with some regular exercises and a little bit of teaching, we will see improvements.  I was able to capture a few pictures of Dallas at Speech Therapy; I was in the room next door watching through an observation windown, that's why they are pretty blurry.

In this picture, the therapist is having Dallas blow bubbles - working on shaping his mouth into an "o" fashion.
Dallas earned rewards (a dog bone, a carrot, a peanut, or a banana) for saying his words.  Then he was able to feed the animals!
The speech therapist's office is located in the "old" mall (Sears is about the only store besides an antique store and a home decorating store), but they still had the Easter Bunny in the court yard!
Dallas loved climbing on the big bunny; Reba wasn't too interested.

We're still here...

I hope I still have a few followers after my week plus absence.  I traveled to Iowa last Tuesday morning so I could be there bright and early Wednesday morning when the packers/movers arrived!  That's right - Wednesday we started packing the house!  The moving company sent two workers to pack and load all of our crap things.  They started about 8:30 each morning and worked until 6 something Wednesday night, 7 something Thursday night, and pulled out of the drive at 5:05 p.m. on Friday...done.  I forgot to take my camera (I accidentally sent it in the kiddos bag to my parents house on Monday night), but I found an old disposable camera at the house that I took some pictures with.  I'm waiting to get it developed, so I don't know how they turned out...

I left the Iowa house for the last time a little before 6 p.m. on Friday.  The closing is today.  We're going to miss it a lot, but it is a house, we are taking our home with us.

Until next time...

Sorry for the Lack of Blogging

I sorry for all you adoring fans out there who have been missing posts from me as of lately.  Things have been pretty busy around here, that I just haven't found the time to sit down and blog.  The kiddos are beginning to get spring fever and cabin fever - it's the worst case I ever remember seeing.  Plus, they haven't been napping well lately, so when they are down, I am trying to catch my breath, do the dishes, straighten up the apartment, and stay up to date on everyone's blog.

OK...so what have we been up to...
  • This past weekend Doug and I headed back to Iowa to do some packing before the movers come
  • Ma-maw, Pa-paw and Aunt Lisa came to Iowa as well to take a trailer load of goodies back to Indiana for us (i.e. the things the movers won't take)
  • Gram and Pa were gracious enough to watch the kiddos here in Indiana.
  • Dallas had an ear infection last week, but it never really slowed him down.
  • The weekend of the 26th, Doug and I had a weekend away to Goshen, IN, for our friends' Justin and Kayla's wedding.  Can you believe I forgot to take my camera!?!?  You can see pictures here and here, if you wish.
  • While up in the northern part of the state, we stopped by Norte Dame University.  I did have my camera for that stop, so I will post pictures later.
  • The house selling process is moving along.  We are waiting to hear the report from the appraiser.  That is pretty much the final part of the process.  Once the house appraises at or above the selling price, the buyer's loan is secured, and all we have left to do is the abstract and title work...then sign away!
  • On the other hand, the house buying process is going well.  We have the home inspection and radon test tomorrow.  The appraisal has been done as well; again, just waiting on the report.  We will have the pest inspection and septic/well inspection done in the next week.
  • Dallas has a follow up doctor appointment this Friday for his ear infection.  Then, on Monday, we are finally meeting with the speech therapist.
  • On Tuesday, I leave for Iowa, to meet the movers.  They will be packing and loading the truck on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  I hope to head back to Indiana on Saturday.
So...lots of fun and exciting times.  "I will try to do better" - something Dallas is always working on as well - about keeping you updated on our lives!

Until next time...
