Amana Tractor Shows
Today we headed to Homestead (one of the 7 Amana colonies) for the Annual Minneapolis-Moline Reunion, and then we venutred to Middle Amana where the Allis-Chalmers show was also being held.
Although the show was for MM and AC, the first vendor we came across was Wally's Tractor Hats. This is the same guy where I bought Dallas' Oliver hat for his birthday. Right away, Doug and I spotted this hat and thought a special little girl needed it...

Those farmer's will tinker and modify anything! (in case you can't tell, that's a picnic table on the flatbed)
In previous years, the MM and AC shows were both in Homestead, so when the parade started the MM's would come from one direction and the AC's would come from the other. This year, as mentioned before, the AC's were in Middle Amana; therefore, the parade only consisted of MM's. It was still a great time and Dallas walked away with a couple handfuls of candy!

Reba ~ 7 months old
I know I keep saying it...but I just can't believe how fast time is going and how "old" this little girl is getting to be.
Reba is babbling all the time, and she is getting really good at repeating her "mu-mu-mu" sounds. I just know she is saying "Momma" *wink*
I will probably jinx myself by saying this, but Reba has been sleeping 12 hours very consistently. She has also been going to be earlier than normal (10 p.m. or even before!) This is very helpful to Momma.
Some things Reba is doing new this month...
Reba loves to play with the tractors after Dallas has gone to bedShe also loves to curl up with a good book (and her thumb)and finally, Reba and her BFF, Madeline Walker
Madeline's mommy and daddy met at our wedding and were married a year later. They welcomed Madeline to their family in the middle of April. We were able to visit and meet Madeline while in Indiana a couple weekends back.
Until next time...

Some things Reba is doing new this month...
- eating cereals
- trying applesauce
- grabbing for anything and everything
- putting anything and everything in her mouth
- cutting teeth (she now has her front lower two teeth)
- drooling constantly
- refusing to take a bottle :(
- moving up to size 3 diapers
- pulling her brother's hair
- laughing a lot
- blowing raspberries a lot
- making new friends
- and the list goes on...

Back in Business
Last night, Doug and I were finally able to finish the swing set! (It looks as though my guess of 6-12 weeks wasn't too far off.) The kids were super excited. They were able to play for about half an hour last night, and then we were back out there this morning before the latest storm blew through. Just look at these smiles...
For those of you wondering...yes, we did stake down the set this time. We still have to put the water sealant on, as well as the tarps, but it is finally usable! I have a video of Dallas climbing the rock wall and going down the slide, but my internet is being very frustrating today! So, it will have to be another time when I post it.
Until next time...

Funny, Yummy, Yucky Story Round-Up
The Funny Story...
Yesterday while I created the signs for Gram's birthday, Dallas wanted to color too. I gave him a piece of a paper and a marker. I then gave him another marker after realizing the first one was dried out. Here is the masterpiece Dallas created (on the paper)... ...and the masterpiece he created on himself.
I have never made a strawberry pie, but I thought I would give it a try while I had so many fresh berries.
Thanks to the help of my good friend Betty*, this was what I came up with...
The Yucky Story...
As for me, I got to feeling bad late Saturday morning, and I got progressively worse as the day went on. I did not have a fever, but I ached all over. I had a sore, stiff neck, shooting pain down my ears, and it hurt badly to swallow. By Saturday evening, I noticed white spots on my tonsils. Sunday morning, my aches had went away, but my throat was still very sore and it hurt to swallow. I decided I would call the doctor Monday morning because I thought I had strep throat. Also on Sunday evening, I noticed red bumps on my fingers. They felt as though I had splinters...very strange.
Monday morning I called the doctor, and yes, she had time that afternoon to see me. Later in the morning while getting Dallas dressed, I noticed he had the same kinds of red bumps on his feet...really strange. At the doctor's office I made the comment about these bumps, but I didn't know if they were related.
The diagnosis: Yes, the bumps, Dallas' fever, and my soreness were all related! Dallas and I have Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease. We are feeling better, and trying our best not to pass it along to Doug and Reba. This morning, I noticed Dallas having a few bumps on his hands and I have them on my feet. We have no idea where we picked this up...it could be a multiple number of places. Unfortunately, there is no treatment, we just have to let it run its course.
(I tried to take some pictures of our bumpy feet and hands, but they didn't turn out well. Plus, you probably don't really want to see them. If you do, you can always "google it". Just beware there are lots of extreme case pictures out there.)
The doctor is most worried about Dallas not eating and/or drinking if he develops the bumps in his mouth (like me, which is why it is so painful to swallow). So...the doctor suggested a "liquid" diet if needed: ice cream, Popsicles, yogurt, pudding, jell-o, applesauce, etc. I'm sure Dallas is going to hate that!
So...there you have it. Our Funny, Yummy, Yucky Stories.

We have lots of juicy, red strawberries in our garden right now. I have froze about 2 gallons worth thus far, and we have had ice cream and strawberries about every night while watching Thomas the Tank.

It was a very easy recipe, and the result was heavenly - the secret I think is the layer of cream cheese under the strawberries!
*Betty mentioned in this story is my Betty Crocker Cookbook*
The Yucky Story...
Last Friday, Dallas woke up with a fever of 103! I gave him Tylenol right away, called the doctor, and followed their directions: cool rag to head, t-shirt only, no blanket, etc. They also said if he was still feverish on Saturday to bring him in to the office. His temperature dropped to around 100 by noon, and he was actually up and playing tractors. After nap time, his temperature was back around 103. More Tylenol and he was feeling better in no time. On Saturday morning, he woke up fever free!

Robertson Reunion
On Saturday, we headed down to Shaffer Lake (Hope, IN) for a Robertson Reunion. It was so much fun to visit with everyone. There was lots and lots of awesome food, great weather, and many laughs. Enjoy the pictures!
This may look like Dallas and Austin are working together to figure out the gate, but Austin was trying to open it and Dallas kept shutting it!
Cindy was finally able to get Reba to sleep

We Survived the Weekend
This past weekend we traveled to Indiana! We had such a wonderful time, and we got to see and visit with lots of family. Here are a few pictures to hold you over until I can upload more.

This little man had a blast at the family reunion on Saturday...
We were all pretty tired after the non-stop fun. The kiddos were asleep before we got out of Shelby County on Monday morning. They both slept until we got to Peoria, IL!!! Dallas was then awake for the rest of the drive, but Reba went back to sleep after getting something to eat. They both slept in this morning, and they are each taking a big afternoon nap! Getting spoiled by grandparents sure is rough...
