This morning I took Dallas and Reba to story time at the library. The theme for today was "Kings and Queens". When we first arrived, the kiddos were able to make a crown. Dallas did a great job picking out the pieces he wanted to glue on his crown.
I helped him put it altogether and ta-da! King D!
After we finished making his crown, Dallas played with some cars, trucks, and tractors. Then when it came time to listen to the stories (about 45 minutes after we arrived!), Dallas was DONE. He didn't want to sit with the other kids, he didn't want to stand by me, he didn't want me to hold him, etc. He started crying, screaming and kicking...so we left. Let's hope he does better the next time...or they don't wait so long to read the stories.
Until next time...

Hodge-Podge Post
Every child has his "security" item. For Dallas it is Teddy a stuffed bear. Teddy was a gift from a friend when Dallas was born. Here is a picture of when Dallas first became attached to Teddy...
...and he has been chewing on him ever since. These days, Dallas loves to carry Teddy around in his mouth. The poor bear has been through a lot...he has no stuffing left in his mid-section!
But...it makes Dallas happy, and that's what matters most.
Alright, I'm a little embarrassed to put this next picture on the blog, but Doug is making me. He was so proud that he was able to get Dallas to do this...
Yep, my kid is going to be the bully giving all the other kids in school wedgies!
Now, from orneryness to sweetness...
It is so much fun playing dress-up with her :)
Yesterday, I went to start the truck and I found these tracks on the porch!!!
Yes, they are deer tracks...on my porch, by my backdoor!
Finally...someone's in the kitchen with Momma...
Dallas wanted to help make breakfast. He's a very good mixer.

Quiet Time
These little darlings are currently napping :)
Therefore, I'll do a quick blog post!
When Gram and Grandpa Bergman came this past weekend, they brought along a lot of goodies from Dallas' second cousin Aden. There were so many new things to chose from, but he took a quick liking to the horse (it even plays the theme from the Lone Ranger).

Reba ~ 3 Months Old *updated*
*I was able to weigh Reba this evening. She tipped the scales at 13 lbs 10 oz!*She is about 24 inches long, as well*
My little girl is 3 months old today! Where has the time gone? As you can tell from the pictures, she is growing and changing. Reba loves to smile and has even started giggling. She will even laugh at her brother every now and again. Reba also loves to coo/talk. I am afraid she will spit out words before Dallas!
Dallas making Reba smile and laugh
Talking to her animals
All smiles for the camera!
Reba is working hard on propping herself on her arms during tummy time. Before too long, she is going to start rolling!

70 Snow Days
Yes, today was 70th consecutive day with 4 inches or more on the ground, and since I hadn't taken Dallas out to play in the snow for quite some time...we bundled up and went outside to play.
Don't be fooled by that shadow...even though the sun was bright...it was still COLD!
Getting ready to take on one of the many drifts in the yard.
I did it Mom! Thankfully, there is about 10 inches of packed snow under that drift holding him up.
I would like to say that he was attempting a snow angel...but that wasn't the case.
A look out over our yard
Of course, we had to visit the puppies!
The record number of days for snow cover is 107...we still have a way to go to break that record! (I'm secretly hoping we don't)

Weekend with Gram and Grandpa Bergman
This past weekend, Gram and Grandpa were able to battle the snow and make it to see us (strike that...) the grandkids! We had a wonderful visit and were glad they could make it. Plus, they volunteered to watch the kids on Saturday night so Doug and I could have an evening out.
Dallas and Gram playing with some toys
Grandpa and Reba bouncing on the bed
Dallas then decided to wrestle with Gram...I think he got her pinned!
Dallas was ready to go...and he was going to drive!
One last picture before Gram and Grandpa left to go back to Indiana.
Thanks again for coming!

Dreaming of Summer Days
Yes, Dallas fell asleep in his high chair during lunch the other day. He is in the midst of changing his schedule. He used to get up around 8 a.m., but he has been getting up at 7 a.m. for about a week; therefore, he is extremely tired by the time it gets to lunch. After taking him to bed, I decided to make a special dessert to help us think of warmer weather...Rhubarb Pie!

Another DIY Project Completed
This past weekend Doug and I put down a new vinyl floor in our "utility" room (the small space located between the kitchen and bathroom). It was another successful DIY project!
The old floor; hard to tell but it was an off-white color with gold "flakes". We actually left the linoleum and put the new vinyl on top of it...much easier than trying to take it up!
Dallas helping Doug remove the quarter-round...
Ta-Da! The new floor.
What to do next???

Super Bowl Party
Even though the Colts didn't win, we still had a fun time with friends watching the game and seeing the commercials!
Me and kids waiting patiently for game time.
Tamara (the hostess) making friends with Dallas by sharing her plate of food! (Mom always said the way to a man's heart is through his stomach!)

Iowa Power Show
This past Wednesday, Doug took the day off work, and we all headed to Des Moines for the Iowa Power Show (aka: farm machinery show). This was the first view we saw when we arrived...
...needless to say, Dallas got super excited for the day!
The Big D loved being able to get in the tractors, turn the steering wheel, and play with all the levers!
I can't believe how nice kids have it these days when they ride along! We used to have to sit on milk crates, upside-down 5-gallon buckets, or in the window...or if there wasn't a cab (gasp!) we had to sit on the fender!
It's hard to make it out in this picture, but Dallas is telling Dad to wait his turn to climb in
All in all, we had a wonderful time. Plus, it was nice to get out of the house.
On a different note, Dallas is beginning to "share" more things with Reba. He will bring a tractor to her and set it in her lap, or in this case...read the tractor magazine to her!
Until next time...
