Announcing...

Colton Robert Stockment!
Proud parents: Jason and Kim (Hall) Stockment

Colton Robert Stockment arrived at 5:15 a.m. on January 30, 2008. He weighs 8 lbs. and 12 oz. and is 21 1/2" long. Labor and delivery went well (as can be expected) and baby and mom are doing great. Colton has big feet and long fingers and is absolutely adorable. (This is the note as posted by Grandma Mandy from Kim's blog)

Iowa Weather

I've come to learn that no matter where you are at the weather can change dramatically in a day's time. Take yesterday for example...it was absolutely a wonderful January day. The high was in the 50's, the sun was shining, it was still day light at 5:30! Then there is today. We have already hit the high (yes, it is only 7:30 in the morning) of 30-something. The sun is not trying too hard to peek out. And...We are under a blizzard warning! They are predicting about 1-4 inches of snow with 40 plus mph winds. Crazy times.

Until next time...

It's Official!

The roof is complete! They finished up Saturday afternoon...I counted and it was just shy of 12 weeks of work! Holy cow! that's quite a long time to do a project.

I'm so glad they finished over the weekend because it is warming up to the upper 50's today, and that will really help the shingles get a decent seal.

Now, we have to save up some more money so we can attach some new gutters. The joys of home-ownership never ends.

Until next time...

Progress on the Roof!

It is another windy day in Iowa, and guess who is at the house? The roofers! I swear they only come when it is super cold and windy. Of course, mix in some snow (like we have today) and you can guarantee they will be here. They are working on the garage today. I was watching them for a short bit...and kind of feel sorry for them. They are having to fight those shingles and tar-paper with the wind, and their things are flying all over the yard. Glad it is them, and not me.

This is the last time I posted of the roof.

This is what it looks like now.

This is the before of the south side of the house.

This is the after of the same side.

This is from inside the house...it was too cold to go out!

Baby Appointment

Today, Buckwheat and I went to visit the doctor. We had another great visit. Like I mentioned in a previous post, we met with a different doc; just in case our regular one isn't available when Buckwheat decides it is time to meet us. We met with Dr. Adam today, and she was very nice and professional...just not quite as upbeat as Dr. Smollen. After measuring my belly (aka: Buckwheat's size), she felt for Buckwheat's position. She said that the little one has turned and is now head down - which is a good sign...and means we are getting closer! She also listened to the heartbeat and timed it at 140 beats/minute. I think this is a bit slower than the last time we went.

We go back on Feb. 8th, and then it will be weekly appointments until Buckwheat arrives (exactly 6 weeks until due date)!

Until next time...

Did you hear?

We got more snow today, and are expected to still get more. Luckily, the wind didn't blow it around too much. Plus, the temperature is dropping! It really didn't rise any from the weekend...on our drive to church Sunday morning, the thermometer in the truck read -15 degrees! That will wake you up in a hurry.

In other news...Things are slow at Monsanto. Doug's boss is currently on vacation, 4 people left for Puerto Rico over the weekend, one left for Argentina (vacation), and another leaves for Chile in a few days; and Doug leaves for St. Louis next Monday. It is going to be super quite around there!

I had one sub day last week, but have nothing else lined up on the calendar. Tomorrow, Buckwheat and I go back to the doctor. We are meeting a new doc on this visit...part of the typical routine just in case my regular doctor isn't the one on call when Buckwheat decides to arrive! Don't worry, I'll let you know how the visit goes, and if we find out anything new.

Here's a weird story from our local news today...they stated that today is the "most depressing day" of the year. How's that for a news story? Makes you feel good. Their reasoning for this being a depressing day...most people are giving up on their New Year's resolutions, the days are short, it is cold outside, etc. I sure hope that most of you disagree with this "most depressing day" talk and are keeping up with your resolutions. I know I'm trying!

Ending on that...I hope everyone has a super week!

Until next time...

Buckwheat's Room

Lucky you! Two posts in the same day from me!!! I bet you are all so excited. I'm sharing some pictures of what Doug and I were up to pretty much all weekend...Buckwheat's Room.

Buckwheat's dresser before...

...Buckwheat's dresser now!

The window "treatments".
F.Y.I. - It was kind of tough finding those curtains.

A close up of the valance.

The crib...just needs a baby to go in it!

Our rocking corner.

More sheep!

Yep...that's Buckwheat's 1st Tractor!

And, finally...me at 33 weeks, 5 days.
Sorry, I know it has been a while since I put one of these up!

Dogs

This year for Christmas, the boys got a new chew toy all the way from Disney World! It was super cute, too. It was in the shape of Mickey ears and made of a tough rubber for "aggressive chewers". Unfortunately, it was no match for Fred. In the last week, it went from a complete toy to very small pieces covering my living room floor.

The toy in two main pieces...

What to chew next?

The mess Fred left for us to clean.

In other news with the boys...Today, Doug and I were up and down the stairs many times. They got tired of going up and down with us...so they just took a break at the top.

"Would you make up your minds!"

The Roof

Alright, it has been a while since I have commented on our roof. I was afraid I would jinx the luck we were having! The roofer and his crew have actually made some major progress on the job since the first of the year. The house is now completely shingled!!! Yea!!! (This is where you can do a dance of joy if you wish) And, today, they started on the garage. Doug says they still have some work to do on the house (wrap the edges...or something like that).

I was very surprised to see them here working when I got home from my sub day. There is a nice snow storm making its way toward us, and they are out there working on the roof. Believe you me...I'm not complaining...just a little surprised. I'm sorry that I don't have pictures to put up. I was going to take some, but you really can't see the new roof because there is already snow accumulated on it, and it is snowing now. When I get the chance, I will take some more pictures and upload them to share.

Until next time...

New Year's Eve

It was brought to my attention (by my wonderful sister-in-law) that I never posted pictures from our New Year's Eve adventure! My bad!!!

Doug, Josie, (Josie's friend) Emily, and I headed up to Purdue New Year's Eve to ring in the New Year with Bruce and the Doctor at the Neon Cactus. We went last year and had a blast! And, this year was no different. One of the highlights of the evening was that the campus went completely smoke free in 2007...therefore, there was no smoking in the bar! Perfect for a pregnant woman like myself!

Here are the pictures...enjoy!

Emily and Josie got in line at 6:30 p.m. ...the doors didn't open until 8 p.m.
The reward...first in line for the piano bar!

The weather while they waited in line...snowy/rainy and cold.

I waited in the truck, but got in line with the rest 5 minutes before the doors opened!
Another perk for the pregnant lady!

Baby Shower

Family Christmas

I finally downloaded some pictures from my camera! I'm not the best at taking pictures "in the moment". Afterwards, I always wished I would have taken more...oh, well...here are what I have!

The stockings!
Buckwheat even had a stocking this year
(the little red one in the middle).

Don't Need to Worry...

I'm still here.

I apologize for going *nearly* (as some would say) a month without posting. It seems like I just haven't had the time to sit and type since returning from Indiana.

Doug and I got back home on Wednesday, Jan. 3rd. Yes, we did rent a U-Haul to bring back all the goodies we received while being in Indiana. We spent the evening unpacking the trailer and then having to return it to the U-Haul station in Coralville. Thursday, Doug returned to work, and I returned to the chiropractor. Seven hours in a vehicle is not cool anymore! I also did some catching up here around the house...laundry, mail, groceries, etc. Friday, I returned to work with Doug, and then we headed to Katie's house after work. Mom and Dad came out Thursday so Dad could do some pheasant hunting. There was also a toy show in Ft. Dodge that we wanted to attend Saturday morning. We hadn't originally planned on spending Saturday night, but we did and came home Sunday mid-morning.

Monday morning was back to work, and then we had a baby doctor appointment in the afternoon. Everything is still going great with Buckwheat! We are so blessed. Christmas dinners were obvious in the weight department...in the 4 weeks since the last appointment, I put on another 8 pounds! I think I must have swallowed the turkey whole!!! I have been getting some swelling in my fingers, but that is all really. Buckwheat's heartbeat was strong as ever...but a bit slower. It was down to 140 beats/min. (which is still in the normal range of 110-180 beats/min.). We go back to the doctor on the 22nd of January...yes, we are to the every 2 weeks visits!

Tonight, Doug worked some more on putting away odds and ends from the holidays. We also put the baby crib together! It is absolutely beautiful...once I get the bedding washed up and put on, I'll put up some pictures.

Speaking of pictures, I have some that I need to download from the camera of the holidays. I'll try to do that soon. And, I know, you all will be wanting a new baby bump picture soon.

Until next time...
